The fish head dripping the oil all over the top flavoring the pastry is pretty tasty. It's still going to be awful in some way or another though depending on how you make it.

The top tier food they have is mushroom and kidney pie. I can make it, but it's hard to get kidneys here even at a butcher.

Did I not already put it in my post? First off, there are plenty of fish pastries. Secondly, the fish heads' oil will spread over the surface of the pie as it cooks as I stated before. Honestly there are ways to eat all of the ingredients in a different way, but it's cool I guess, and has a neat story and reason behind it.

Small coastal village was starving because of extended horrible weather. Rationing everything. Little supplies left, can't get anything from the forest, and nightmarish storms so no fishing. Eventually one fisherman said fuckit, we're a fishing village and went out into the white caps and lightning strikes.

He came back with some fish. In order to assure every starving person that no one hoarded any of the food, they baked the fish directly into the pie before splitting it up. Or pies. I don't remember 100%. It was to ensure no one was taking any of the desperate haul.
