Gatara masha is brewing a very very clean, sweet cup. Even at a relatively long drawdown(4:30). Surprisingly so. Little bit of earthy ginger on the last wisps of flavor, but its all lightly fruity and nothing too distinct. Just a bit of persistent lemony acidity before the ginger. Its not bad, just not that interesting right now. Maybe it'll open up more in a few weeks. Torch little glass might get here tomorrow so I can go back to playing with espresso.

As far as pictures can tell, Prismo’s filter has less open surface than the E&B allowing for more pressure on top of the extra pressure added by the valve in the Prismo cap, allowing for potential better extraction.

I can’t use the Prismo filter alone without the valve to make a direct comparison with the E&B, however I’ll see in about 1 hour.

Oh apparently it might not even be faema's design.
>Finally, a mention must be made of a model called "Mignon", the main features of which we will later find in the first version of the Baby Faemina of which it can be considered the zero version. It has no brand name, so we can only assume that it could have been a Faema prototype or a model from another manufacturer whose patent Faema later took over.

The robot is the latest of many direct clones over the last 67 years. Paul Pratt(cafelat founder) started manufacturing it because it was getting harder and harder to find parts/seals for the ancient models. Not sure if its a close enough clone to use the robot parts on older versions, but if so that would make sense why he didn't update anything.

simply because i dont like the ergonomics and the process required to make coffee.
it also feels very proprietary
which is also why i won't buy a 9barista, i love how it looks and functions but its a walled garden, and i would not enjoy the process.
so if/when i venture into espresso(probably years from now) it will probably be whatever the latest and greatest flair is. because it feels like a more natural and enjoyable process and it functions on a much more standardised system.

yes of course.
it has a larger basket which is why (depending on the coffee) you can fit over 30 grams into 1 brew
without any tamping or pressing
just filling and leveling and tapping on the counter to essentially settle the coffee and remove as much air gaps between the particles as possible.
which when done with the right coffee and the right technique can create some pretty fucking heavy coffee.

:D

It works well, it’s a nice fake espresso more akin to moka coffee but yet a little bit more denser and grittier.
I ground the beans at full espresso range 1.5.5 on the JX pro and the taste was good, however some grit passed through the filter even though it didn’t disturb me.

I’m happy with the Prismo (even though it costs almost the same as the Aeropress…) and would recommend it also because the valve keeps the coffee inside and stops dripping, however I can’t stop thinking that the Aeropress should’ve been designed like this as standard from factory.

Thanks.

I tried going coarser but for the Aeropresso style coffee it doesn’t work well imho, also the Mexican coffee I’m using likes finer grinds otherwise it has some acidity that disturbs me.

Keep in mind that I didn’t use full force when I pressed down, I’m still trying to figure out/experiment (also I fear breaking the glass lol), imho if I use brute force I can exceed 1 bar of pressure and have better extraction with less grit.

We shall see in the next coffees.

Also Fellow suggests grinding at espresso range in the Prismo instruction booklet.

I started making single doses cold brew goffee before going to sleep so in the morning I can make breakfast with a nice cold cuppa with whole milk.

These Caffelab Mexico beans I used are perfect, I ground them finer than the usual maximum coarse setting (today it was 4.6.0) and the flavour was rich and full bodied, a lot of caramel and malt, the body was chokky and the milk added a nice thick fatty texture.

Noob here, why is it that when I use an aluminum Moka pot the coffee comes out tasting good but with a stainless steel one it comes out tasting almost burnt or something (Both are Bialetti btw). Kind of too bitter compared to the aluminum one. It's confusing because I follow the same steps for both.
I think I will stick to using a French press and an Ibrik for now.

>> No.19458496

Metals filters let more solids and oils through giving you a way different flavor profile than anything paper filtered. Paper filters also come in various different thicknesses and flowrates giving you finer control over your brew. All comes down to personal preference as to which is "better". I'm going to try some nonwoven fabric filters for refiltering cold brew in the morning. Every paper filter I've tried gets clogged with swollen microfines that make it through my cold brew pitcher's filter so I'm hoping these will act a little bit different(and possibly I can rinse and reuse them a few times).
>This filter is on the slower side, but doesn't clog. It produce a syrupy and creamy body while maintaining good acidity. Use a coarser grind size to start.

OK FUCKERS

Today I made an Aeropress coffee following one of the countless recipes on the Aeromatic app, I did this one:

>15 grams coffee
>210 grams boiling water
>2 minutes steep without stirring
>finer end of the moka grind

Taste was nice, sweet, pleasant, however...it was watery as fuck, the body was lost even though I used a metal mesh.

I don't get it, are these kind of coffees supposed to be like this? It's not like drinking a tea or infused chamomile or the like, with full body, the texture may be the same (even more with paper filter) but the body simply isn't there and it tastes kind of like watered down espresso to me.

What should I do? Lower the water dose or find another coffee?

I brew exclusively with stainless steel mesh because I'm poor and would rather spend my money on beans instead of paper. I like the quality of pour over, although it takes longer than the standard pour over (origami, hario, etc.) by about 45 seconds.
I find it to be a good alternative to the autism induced by comparing filter papers but I can't honestly say from experience.

Also, any goffee anons notice that they grind finer for filter coffee over time. I was okay at 120 on my K6 and now I'm down to 110. Is my pallette changing or is this the usual progression of the goffee (autism)?

Very easy rinse off as well. I'll probably just run some water through it once it dries to see how much flavor lingers.

Funny you mention that because after hours of trying to find a good beginner's hand grinder that can grind ultra fine for Turkish, I came to the conclusion that there's almost no such thing because I guess the traditional method Ottomans or Arabs would have used is to just pulverize the coffee beans with a mortar and pestle. So I decided on getting the K6 as my first grinder since it MIGHT be able to grind ultra-fine, but if it doesn't then I wouldn't mind anyways as I could use it for everything else and continue getting pre-ground or something just for Turkish coffee. Even if it could grind that fine, I think the hassle of grinding for like 2-3 minutes would only be worth on certain occasions.

i like to take a bite of my hagelslag and then take a sip of coffee.
i do this with all treats i have with drinks.
means no crumbs or weird particles in the drink.
and you can take the perfect amount of drink and food and keep them separate at the same time.
