I currently live in California and don't know anyone who would say that In-n-Out is the best burger they can get. There are hundreds of better burgers around. You'd have to be pretty deep flyover to consider a fast food burger "the best". I mean, even the best fast food place is going to cook all their burgers well done, which automatically makes them worse than even the most mediocre bar or restaurant.

Nah, not really. We see In N Out as a good option if you want a cheap burger, but no one is dumb enough to claim its the best tasting burger.

In N Out's proposition is that it's fucking cheap (relatively) and the quality is consistent. I'm a zoomer and when I was in high school in 2016, I remember a Double Double was like $2.80. Insanely cheap. Now thanks to JPow and other inflationary pressures + cattle futures skyrocketing, the cost of a burger is quite high.

We do.

In-N-Out has a special place in every Californian's heart but nobody here thinks is THE BEST burger. That's absurd. Best burger for the price? Sure. Best burger after doing yard work all day? Sure. Best burger when you're feeling depressed? Sure. Best burger overall? Hell no. California is all about fancy burger joints and we have a crazy amount of options that are better than In-N-out. My favorite is the bone barrow burger from Eureka! in Claremont with a Belgian golden beer.

Non-California natives come here and eat In-N-Out then sperg, "IT'S NOT THE BEST. CALI PEOPLE ARE STUPID." and we all laugh them because we've never considered it it that.

I was born and raised in the Silicon Valley (San Jose / Cupertino / Saratoga / Sunnyvale area) and it's widely considered the most expensive part of the USA.

I clearly remember being actually astounded as a 16-18 year old in high school, going to the local In N Out in Sunnyvale, and looking at a double double burger at merely $2.80. The price has gone up since, but that $2.80 figure is imprinted in my head because it was so ridiculously cheap as a Californian.

So yeah, you cannot have an honest conversation about why In N Out is loved without talking about the price.

It's the same reason I can't stand Five Guys anymore. I think Five Guys burgers mog literally every burger out there but you're still paying $20 for just one burger there basically. So despite the fact that Five Guys burgers taste way better than In N Out burgers, I'd still choose In N Out over Five Guys because I'm an adult with bills to pay and financial obligations.

Pretty much this. Though I wouldn't say EVERYONE in California is hyper defensive about In-N-Out; most people aren't. But there's definitely a cultural thing surrounding the place with some people. It's the same shit with most regional chains. Do you really think when Texans defend Whataburger they're saying it's better than their local bbq/tex-mex/steakhouse? Of fucking course not. People just sperg out about California these days because they like to make themselves look ignorant, or something.

I used to live in the Mormon belt and i'm from San Jose and I went from interacting with people commercializing the most impactful intellectual property of our generation in the Silicon Valley to working in a patent office operating within an 300 mile radius full of high schoolers who are more likely to know someone on heroin than someone who has been to a science fair.

Please shut the fuck up and do not lecture me, a Bayfag, about drug problems. I've lived in flyover shitholes and have a much deeper understanding of why rent in red counties in Idaho, Utah, etc is so low.

People who flee to drug-ridden red states because its cheaper are admitting they are too poor to afford a lower standard of living. Again, this is a few-acre radius of SF. Meanwhile, the rest of the Bay Area literally has a GDP and tax outlay that subsidizes the entire flock of Oxytocin addicts that live in trailer shacks across 100's of counties throughout american.

Remember, every single technology and medicine that you use in your daily life, or any of the services you rely on, or even the food you eat, is likely from California — namely the Bay Area and LA Area or anywhere in between.

The retarded snippets from Fox News you see of Tenderloin SF does not change the fact that 70% of the GDP comes from Blue Voting areas which are largely situated in metropolitan regions that you are too poor to live in.
Supply and demand. The reason somewhere like Los Gatos, CA (Silicon Valley) is far more expensive to live in than your flyover red county shithole is because we have actual jobs here (tech and biotech firms) and beautiful scenery. So educated people with money bid the price up.

Pic related is 15 minutes from my house, which is in one of the Silicon Valley bay area tech hubs.

You are too poor to live in a place like I do and you're coping by clinging to Fox News propaganda. Yeah, some shitty inner-city regions of SF / Oakland have druggies. I guess that means entire swaths of red counties aren't desolate shitholes with no economies or job prospects, right?

Hello fellow californianon. This is spot on. They also pay their employees a damn good wage for the industry. Sure their CEO is a wacky conservative Christian but all things considered in n out is great. For FAST FOOD it's definitely my favorite.

What a burger is good as well, Texanons. It isn't as good as in n out or Culver's but it's damn good.

In-n-out is good because of price to quality ratio. You can get better burgers everywhere.
>>19422689
I actually think Whataburger is straight up fast food tier. I ended up liking a lot of shit I didn't think I'd like visiting Texas but Whataburger disappointed.
You're right about in-n-out fries though they're fucking disgusting. They don't freeze them and they don't double fry them. It's like they take pride in doing it wrong.

They have good burgers, I liked getting the pepper bacon Tillamook when I was in the area.
They had some shoestring rosemary garlic fries one time that were rad as hell.
Walla Walla Onion rings are overrated imo.

>> No.19432143

>>19432097
The rosemary fries are great, but I honestly prefer the waffle fries. I don't know why they are the best
fast food fries I've ever had just eating them on their own, but they are also great for dipping since the holes in waffle fries are perfect for scooping up a bunch of sauce. The pepper bacon cheeseburger is great as well, but I usually get a couple double cheeseburgers with their sauce and no ketchup. I agree the onion rings are overrated. They tend to slice the onions too thick so you get too much onion to breading ratio per bite. They taste good, but the texture is thrown off by the massive piece of onion.

Rockford Illinois is one of the worst places on Earth though. one time i stopped to get gas and a man came up to ask me for money with an open, untreated knife slash on his arm, like big enough that he'd definitely need stitches. an illinois bureau of investigation detective guy i met in a bar in east dubuque once told me that Rockford has at least three active serial killers who have never been caught in decades of being active (he also said they estimated at least 10 active serial killers between Milwaukee, Chicago and Gary, IN but since they mostly target people on the margins of society they never get any press)

the Rockford PD of course denies any rumors of killers on the loose

Back in the height of the Drumpf worship era when the redditors flooded into /pol/ and the rest of 4chan I saw multiple people saying that we should convince all the truckers to stop delivering to California so that they'd starve to death. It was probably the most retarded thing I've ever seen. California produces more food than any other state, unless you consider HFCS and soybeans "food". Also, Turlock is kind of a shithole, but they make Therapist, so they're pretty cool for a small NorCal town.
