I’m the furthest thing from a picky eater, I just don’t think the different parts of a dish should come into contact unless they directly compliment eachother, especially not to the degree they are in the op with the taters overlapping the meat

Honestly don’t think I’ve ever been served peas in a restaurant, nor have I ever had non-frozen (or even seen them being sold) peas other than ones I’ve grown/picked from other people’s fields myself. They taste fine but it’s not something I’d ever pay restaurant money to eat. Even your favourite side dish mr norfman (mushy peas) aren’t even made from actual peas
