What it boils down to is that McDonalds and fast food establishments in general tried to "reinvent" themselves around the early 2000s to be more than just fast food, which had developed a very negative public image. Instead of just the standard burger, fries, and milkshake, they wanted to start offering food that was a step above what someone might expect from fast food. "Wow, that's from McDonald's?" the customer would surely exclaim upon seeing their handcrafted 100% Angus beef burger on a brioche bun. This is how you got all those "artisanal" McDonalds burgers, McCafe and everything that came with that, and the shift in the overall McDonald's aesthetic from bright colors to bland corporate beige.

The obvious problem is that nobody asked for this. If someone goes to McDonalds, they go there because they want McDonalds. What is McDonalds? It's exactly what the higher ups were trying to replace: a cheap, shitty burger, some dry fries, and maybe a milkshake and some chicken nuggets. Fast, easy, slop. That's what the people want, and to this day it seems like McDonalds still can't wrap their heads around that.

Being a fastfood worker used to be higher on the tier list and was seen as a decent job. Now we've relegated it to the lowest classes so that now even middle class teenagers won't take these jobs and instead look for career type internships or trades. And since fastfood is also closely tied to minimum wage it only makes sense the food has progressively gotten shittier as we continue to pay the people to make that food less and less compared to the inflation of the dollar. The only type of people willing to work for those wages are spic illegals niggers and crackheads. Those are the people making your food. I think they just found two 10 year olds frying chicken or something at kfc. I think it's hilarious because the food that guy reviews just keeps getting worse and he can't find a good explanation without destroying his fan base.

Nah, I never want something shitty and dry. Fast food in an ideal world would all be like Five Guys.

That is to say, makes no pretense about being healthy or whatever, is super simple and to the point. It's kept "fast" by the fact there's limited other bullshit on the menu and they can just crank out delicious hot burgers and fresh-cut fries.

If the fast food place wants to offer coffee just offer black or with cream, again simple but good quality and done right. Leave the fancy-shmancy 10 ingredient coffees to Starbucks or some shit.

then i ordered a quarter pounder on a road trip and i could barely stomach the stuff
taking a break from fast food really increased my standards and it tastes terrible now
