I agree. I grew a whole bunch of them last year. They were really delicious when roasted.

I just planted a bunch of Royal Chantenay seeds, and some Rainbow Blend seeds in one of my raised beds. Last year I buried some logs, and compost at the bottom before filling it in, and this year the soil in that bed is super dark and fluffy so hopefully the carrots like it. I'm planning to do the same this year with another one of my beds.

Look at this OP. I made a carrot pie with my homegrown carrots. It's like pumpkin pie, but you use carrots instead of pumpkin! It was really tasty.

Chantenay are great. I did red chantenay(charentais?) last year I think. Check out parisian carrots. They are round boys, and exceptional tasting.

I've done the same, but I found that the flavour of the spices overpowers the fresh garden carrot taste so I'd rather use store bought carrots and save the homegrown carrots for other things. It's very tasty and like pumpkin pie.

Agreed. I had too many carrots last year, so I was unbothered by that fact.

They are based off of what bugs bunny eats in the looney toons cartoons. Todd Carrotton has admitted this several times in interviews.

Lately carrots seem too sweet, like they're basically candy even when raw. Did something change in the last few years?

Carrots are pretty high in carbs. Try organic carrots. Organic carrots tend to have a stronger flavor that balances the sweetness well.

There's credible rumors that he may have stolen the idea from Johnny Orangeroot
