what's your opinion on canned food? specifically canned meats.
I think of them highly because I always pretend that I'm some survivor living in a post apocalyptic wasteland and canned meat is an absolute god send. I'm always disappointed when people scoff at canned food thinking that they're disgusting. I think the idea of creating food that can survive years without spoiling is amazing.

no.
spam is the bane of hawaiian food. never seen such a unique cuisine with fucking phenomenal produce be ruined so quickly by haphazardly slamming this processed shit into dishes. people on the island aren't starving anymore and there's no reason to keep using this awful ingredient. the texture is rubbery and oily, the smell is horrifying and taste is foul. the guy in OP isn't eating that shit for reason.
it's not because it's canned, it's because it's highly processed mystery slop.

Canned is fine but it's never gonna be as tasty as fresh as making it last is more important than taste

Freeze dried meats will last 30 years every time and often even many more decades. Canned meat it worthless in comparison, there is no reason to pay for it or waste space storing it.

Only ever had spam as far as luncheon meats goes. I like it raw, as opposed to fried which I think is the normal way? It is good sandwich meat, strong flavor, some spam slices and sharp cheddar is chefs kiss no mayo needed.

>muh prepping
Get with the times grandpa, buy several kilos of whey powder instead. Much more protein, much better quality, shelf life is infinite. Maybe having it sitting in your cupboard will even make you start lifting lmao. Meat should be fresh, period.

I buy canned beans because I can cook something with them quickly.
If I was planning on making something with beans in advance then I would use dry beans though.

Deviled Ham is amazing, one of the best foods mankind has ever created. Too bad it's impossible to make as good as store bought and fucking costs more than gold now.
Underwood is going to have to start putting crack cocaine in their inpecably spiced pig-paste if they want to keep up business.

You could shit in your hand and eat that too, but there isn't any reason to. Butchers are common and sell actual meat, fit for human consumption.

Based larp. I like to pretend i'm on a victorian arctic expedition or fighting in the trenches when I crack open a tin of corned beef.

SPAM is great, love me some fried spam.
I also love those cans of Cream of Mushroom, helps make a nice casserole.
Lastly I usually use canned tomatoes for sauces and they come out great so no complaints there.

There is a point in which you add so much salt into something that you can't taste anything else
That's why nobody bothers to cook with that shit
You can get away with adding a shit ton of salt into sausage, anchovies are salty as fuck too because they are really fatty and all you need to add to a sauce is a tiny bit

Canned meats are fine, not usually my first choice but they're good enough. Unhealthy as hell I'm sure but pic related is actually quite tasty. Looks like cat food but tastes great as a sandwich. Spam sliders on hawaiian rolls are also pretty good, get the reduced sodium version.

Every tin of chicken I've ever had save one brand has been utter shit. And that one brand that I think is good? It's a ghetto brand: Aldi's own brand.
I can't imagine that Sweet Sue's stuff would be any good, but at least the stock is actually jellied.

>>19074624
Fucking where?
Spam is at least double that where I live. Even store brands of Spamalikes are like $5/lb. As I can get 80/20 fresh ground beef (as in from the butcher, not the frozen tube shit) for $2.66/lb, there's not really much reason to buy Spamalikes beyond the convenience.

I love canned food.
In a way, it's like having a bunch of MRE's that you can store "forever."
Well, not forever, but at least a decade. And it's inflation proof.

>looks like death from below but that meat has to be softest and juiciest chiggin you can get
It is essentially a chicken that has been boiled or pressure cooked until it became a stew. I've tried making chicken salad out of thighs that were boiled until they were falling apart (made broth for soup). It was too slimy to be enjoyable. I can't imagine a recipe where meat like that would be good. Maybe if it's blended into some kind of paste to spread on toast, dunno. Soft doesn't always mean good

Love corned beef hash. Lately, Aldi's has been super slimy. Takes longer to cook to an edible state and yields less. Anyone else notice this? Could be either a bad batch or they're putting in extra fat to reduce costs.

>> No.19077059

Nah not hotdogs. More like regular, traditional sausage, but in spreadable form instead of sliced.
Deviled ham spread on some warm toast for breakfast is the Ambrosia of struggle food.
