suppose I'm an actual, literal retard who has somehow managed to avoid learning even the most basic things in life.
how would i go about cooking ground beef?

>> No.19012359

Pan or pot med heat. Add oil and garlic and onion. Stir around for a while until you feel like adding the beef. Add beef. Stir occasionally until you can't see pink anymore if you choose a larger piece in two. Season as desired. A nice easy way is to add a taco packet.

Preheat on high for a couple minutes
Add cooking oil
Adjust heat to medium or so
Add beef
While cooking, stab and stir the beef frequently with a spatula to break it apart so it doesn't clump
When there's no more pink, continue cooking for a few more minutes
When done cooking, pour off the grease and also depending on what you're cooking, rise the beef in water a few times to make the flavor less strong

As a general rule, most foods can be adequately cooked by just putting them in a sauce pan, adding a little oil and salt, and cooking them over low-medium. With a lid for wetter food and no lid for dryer, crispier food.

Unless it's extremely lean ground beef you don't really need cooking oil. The fat will render out into the pan. You'll want to use about a half teaspoon of salt per pound of ground beef. You could even go higher than that. The mistake that people cooking make is they don't use enough salt. You can use other spaces too but the one you have to use so that it doesn't taste like garbage is salt.

1 lb ground beef
1/2 tsp salt
Black pepper
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 tsp dried rosemary
1 tsp worcestershire sauce
6 eggs

Put the beef into the pan with the salt spices and Worchester Shire sauce. Cook until the pink is gone. Add the garlic and cook a little bit longer. Add the six eggs and stir them into the beef. Cook until the eggs are done to your satisfaction. Taste it and if you don't find the taste pops, add some more salt. You can also add chili powder paprika you could fry an onion first in some butter and then add the beef. Remember that cooking is the process of heating food and adding flavor. Many people confuse cooking with heating food up. You wouldn't just heat ground beef up until it were no longer raw. You would add salt and spices. Or if not spices you would definitely add salt.

>>19012426
Oh I forgot the rinsing step. What you really want to do is take your sink fill it with warm water and add some dish soap. Then you want to put the ground beef in a strainer and wash the beef in the strainer in the sink. You really want to give it a good washing so that the soap can remove any bacteria that weren't cooked off. Then you want to run the beef under warm water so that you can remove all of the soap.

>> No.19012484

>>19012471
No, you don't want to use soap, lol. Rinsing is just an easy way to remove the strong flavors and odors of the beef, not perfect. The ideal way to do it would be to par-boil it, but that can be a pain with ground beef.

This is actually good minus the eggs. Good base for many different recipes. Want tacos? Throw in some chili powder and cumin. Want spaghetti? Throw in some tomato sauce. Want ground beef stroganoff? Throw in some mushrooms, broth, and sour cream. I also use granulated garlic instead of fresh when browning meat since cooking fresh garlic too much ruins the flavor. Always add fresh garlic towards the end.

Yeah the eggs are sort of what I do because I'm too lazy to cook both beef and eggs in their major parts of my diet. But I honestly do like the flavor. I also drench it in hot sauce.

For tacos put it in a pan and break it up, if it has a lot of fat you don't need any oil, drain the excess fat into another container and save it. Add a seasoning packet and follow the directions or you can make your own. The mix I keep is
>1 cup flour
>2 tablespoons chili powder
>2 tablespoons chipotle chili powder
>4 teaspoons salt
>2 teaspoons paprika
>1 teaspoon onion powder
>a few shakes of garlic powder
>cayenne if you want it hotter
on low heat add a few tablespoons to the beef along with some water and mix to combine, cook until the water is gone and it's a sort of gravy texture. Add more of seasoning if you want it spicier, throw it on a tortilla and eat with whatever

>> No.19012599

What I do is that I get about a 1lb of 80/20 ground beef, begin to cook in the pan, season with kosher salt and black pepper, then add a couple of dashes of paprika, onion powder, garlic powder and red pepper flake, break into pieces until cooked through, then take 6oz of that, put in a bowl and make two eggs (cooked however you liked) to place on top with a slight squeeze of sriracha.

That's how you make a low budget protein plate.

medium can refer to doneness (irrelevent for ground beef) or the heat on your stove. In every instance in this thread it refers to the heat setting. see the attached picasso for a general idea. Oil is cooking oil which is stuff like butter, vegetable oil, olive oil, or the fat from the meat.

Anon, here's a really easy ground beef recipe that my mom used to make when I was a kid and I still love it and use it as a cheap, easy weeknight meal that has leftovers. You will need (assuming you are American and can get this stuff easily):
>1 lb ground beef
>A heaping cup of frozen corn or 1 can of sweet corn
>1 bell pepper (color doesn't matter)
>1 small/medium onion
>1 packet of taco seasoning
>1 can of tomato soup concentrate
>1 box of Jiffy corn muffin mix, plus what you need to make that (usually 1/3 cup milk and 1 egg)
>1 can green chilies
Pre-heat the oven according to the instructions on the Jiffy mix (375 I think). Dice the bell pepper and onion in a skillet until the onion is just about translucent, then add the ground beef and cook until no longer pink. Drain excess fat if necessary. Add the corn and green chilies, then add the tomato soup concentrate, combine, then add the taco seasoning and combine. Separately, make the corn muffin mix in a bowl (add some shredded cheese and some of the green chilies to the mix optionally). Put the beef mixture in a casserole pan, then spread the cornbread mix over the top, bake according to Jiffy directions.

Brown it in a pan, then put it on a plate. Make a mirepoix with diced onion, carrot and celery. Once that's nicely done, add about half a bulb of finely chopped garlic and some peeled tomatoes, generous sprinkling of salt, good splash of worcester sauce and any other seasoning you fancy. Then put the beef back in, simmer for a while, thicken with butter and flour and serve with spaghetti.

Put the beef in the pan, cut up and add potatos, onions, and garlic when theres water in the beef. When the water disappears or majority evaporated, add some tomatoes in there. If you want your meat crispy, let it toast a bit more before adding tomatoes.
Add salt or garlic power if you don't have garlic. Maybe something spicy if you want, I personally use chili powder from an Indian store I found. Eat it with rice or eggs if you want or you can add corn when you add the tomatoes.
You can pretty much add anything with ground beef, its versatile and pretty much always tastes good.

>> No.19014167

Wow, this thread has convinced me that nobody on this board has any idea how to cook. Adding oil to cook ground beef? Really?

Here’s a blueprint for preparing any ground beef-based recipe:
>In a dry skillet, ideally non-stick, crank up the heat to medium-high
>you will know it is hot enough when a drop of water vaporizes on contact with the pan
>slap the wad of ground beef into the pan and immediately press it flat in one big layer across the surface of the pan, as if you’re making a giant burger, the meat should be sizzling pretty aggressively, do not touch it or try to stir or break it up
>turn the heat down a touch and season the top side of your meat layer with salt and pepper
>after a little bit, peek under the layer with a spatula, if a nice brown crust has formed, it’s time to start flipping and breaking up the meat
>allow the meat to cook the rest of the way through, stirring occasionally
>finely dice whatever aromatics you want in the beef at this time (onion, garlic, peppers, etc)
>when the meat is done, remove from the pan with a slotted spoon, a healthy amount of beef fat should still be in the pan
>fat is what gives beef it’s delicious ‘beefy’ flavor. Retards will tell you to throw it out. Don’t.
>sautée your aromatics in the beef fat on medium low heat, starting with hearty ones like onion, adding garlic near the end
>finish by blooming any spices you wish to add in the fat as well, stir for a minute or so, before adding the beef back to the pan
>stir to incorporate aromatics and spices
>add water/stock here if desired, cook and reduce
>taste for seasoning and make any final adjustments

>put 1/2 cup of milk in measuring cup, take 1 piece of white bread, rip it into chunks and soak in milk
>in bowl, add 1 egg, 1/4 cup shredded parmesan, some diced onion, 2 teaspoons of garlic powder, teaspoon of salt, teaspoon of black pepper, italian seasoning, red pepper flake
>mix dry ingredients, mix in milk/bread, then mix all ingredients into ground meat.

>scoop into balls with cookie scoop

>dump quart size container of pasta sauce into pan, heat until just boiling
>dump in all meatballs and wait ~20 minutes, pull when meatballs temp at or over 165

>serve on toasted hoagie rolls with mozzarella and pepperoncinis
