The ice cream machine is one of their more delicate pieces of equipment because it has more parts to be serviced. Also the employees are retards and will put in a service call and leave it out of order for days when all they had to do was let it defrost.

If you reassemble the Taylor c602 incorrectly you will get a space shuttle. That thing is no joke, the cleaning process requires cleaning under the o-rings. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Also the pics of nasty shit in the drip trays you see online are completely real. Doesn't actually go into the product but anything that leaks past the o-rings mixes with grease and grinding metal.

It's well known that those machines are ridiculously complicated, far more than is necessary for making things cold. The issue is that McDonalds and Taylor basically jerk each other off well enough that they don't see any reason to change.

Read up on how Kytch hacked together an addon to help franchise owners keep a better eye on the internals of the machine and do preventative maintenance. McDonalds and Taylor tried to sue them into oblivion, and Taylor did some industrial espionage to copy their device and make their own shittier version.
