Hey man, your rice doesn't look terrible, and a Tiger is going to be leagues better than a $13 Aroma from Walmart, but when people talk about how good rice cookers are they're always talking about fuzzy logic.

>> No.18912850

>>18912820
The rice should by all means look terrible. I drunkenly just dumped stuff in and covered and set the instant pot for 6 minutes. It didn’t look good, so rinse and repeat twice and by then we were out of there, and my girlfriend warned me of ‘inedible, smelly rice’. Lmao.

I knew about the fuzzy logic, and how that’s integral to dialing in various types of rice, but honestly hadn’t inspected this one bit til the anon mentioned it only having one button. I’m glad the tiger is at least reputable though, and now I can make rice while making the main dish in the instant pot. I wanted to make sure this workflow works for me before plopping down the big bucks. I’ll probably get a cheap used fuzzy logic if I keep eating rice, then if it’s really working for me I’ll get the imported champion.

Out of curiosity, how do you store your rice? I almost bought a 50lb bag of Kirkland long grain, but that just seemed like too much rice given that I’m just keeping it in the bag upright rn. I want to get screw top 5gal buckets with gaskets but thought I’d ask first. Thanks for stopping by, it’s a long journey.

Yes, here you go. I gotta sleep now. Later.

How to make rice:
1. Weigh rice on scale note weight.
2. Rinse rice with copious amounts of room temp to cold water until water runs semi clear to clear. The more the better
3. Place rice in bowl and cover with 2-3 inches of filtered water. Wait 30 minutes or until rice appears opaque and crumbles easily when pressed between fingers.
4. Drain rice by placing in a strainer and let stand in strainer for 25 minutes.
5. Place equal parts rice and filtered water in a high walled pot. Cover rice.
6. Put heat on max temp and start a timer.
7. Once steam starts coming out of pot or water starts boiling turn heat to 2-3 or very low and cook for how long it took to reach boil.
8. Once time is up turn off heat and let sit for 15 minutes without touching.
9. Fluff rice with plastic or wooden rice scoop. Serve.

I've got a Zojirushi rice cooker, and the rice always comes out perfectly.

What I like to do with it is I'll make the maximum amount of rice it will cook at once while I prepare some stir fry veggies/meat. Eat the stir fry over some rice, and throw the rest in the refrigerator for 3+ days.

See the key to making good fried rice, that every Asian mom/granny knows, is your cooked rice needs to sit in the fridge for a few days. Changes the consistency.

Then later on in the week I can take a cheap ass bag or two of frozen veggies, the kind of stuff they sell for $1-2 at the grocery store, eggs, and some chicken or pork (even leftovers work), and cook up some amazing fried rice.

For seasoning you can use the cheap fried rice seasoning packs, or you can just make your own mix of a bunch of different spices that sound good.

Black angus. Depends on the cost associated. Look how marbled this meat is. We slaughtered a massive steer at roughly 2 years old. 1600lbs hanging weight.

Highland cattle may be a good option. Extremely adorable, so people will stop by to see them. Uniquely delicious tasting meat, and leaner than most beef, so you could go for the "healthy meats" angle. The beef is really very good even if it is a bit leaner.
