What are your local popular foods that have been ruined by outsiders? I’ll start with one of my local foods… the Philly cheesesteak. Today everyone thinks it comes with cheese whiz and peppers, when in reality locals shun both of these things. Mushrooms come close, but many will accept them because they don’t hurt the flavor. A true Philly cheesesteak is with steak, provolone (or American for the gay parade bunch), with or without fried onions on a local hoagie roll. Whiz is tourist garbage yet so many mistake it as being “authentic” since the tourist traps do it and not even they do peppers. How s*bway and others thought either of these things were authentic is beyond me.

What are your local foods that outsiders have ruined? Also, the ketchup in OP is for the fries, NOT the steak.

The funny thing is, nobody outside of Philly uses cheese-wiz anyway so regardless of whether your ramblings are true or not, it doesn't matter, because your people are still the only ones who put cheese-wiz on cheesesteaks, so either way...cheese-wiz is an authentic Philly style cheesesteak

Go get a generic cheesesteak from any chain place in any state, and they don't use wiz, not even Subway does this like you claim

Cheesesteaks kind of suck anyway. I bought into then when I first moved to east PA but after eating like 500 of them I haven't ever had one that I would describe as delicious or warrant going out of your way for.

Deglaze pan with white wine vinegar

Fish and chips. Used to be 50p. Well now our potatoes get exported, the Chinese trawlers steal our fish, there's a trade ban on fucking lemons and the sea is too polluted to pan salt.
Flour is now five times more expensive at wholesale because of the war in Ukraine, our salt has to be iodized, the dim sims have cat in them and the pickled onions are now all French.
