Quoting my default response. I used a kinu for years. "Espresso focused" burr set, yet Matt Winton won the World Brewers cup with it. Its great. The difference between the comandante burr/clones and the italmill burr/clones is going to come down to your personal preference. q2 is the budget filter focused king. People use it for espresso but it'll be a bit more difficult to dial in for espresso than the k3/jx and slower to grind.
>Q2 or up. Don't buy the Normcore. Only on there because someone bought it and bitched until I added it. Don't buy the wacaco, its only there because I bought their towels and they had all the info there to easily copy and paste. Everything else q2 or above is solid, prices varying depending on sales and location.

Nah

Retarded way of displaying it. For instance:

Does my brew device make more of a difference than my scale if I am going from a french press to a chemex, and a lunar vs an AWS 2kg scale? Of course not. How about a v60 vs a kalita and a Hario brew scale vs a pearl? Brew device again. Actually, most scales used in coffee brewing are a lot more similar in their functionality than most brewing devices. I bet kettle type matters more than scale. Going from no scale to scale is large, of course. But for pour over, I'd wager a shitty kitchen scale with 1g resolution vs a pearl would produce less difference in the cup than changing filters on a v60.

And for espresso you're just wrong. Basket and tamper matter way more than what scale you use - assuming you use scales meant for coffee. Going from a single basket that came stock with your machine to a vst basket will be night and day. Going from a domed tamper that's 58mm to a 58.4 flat tamper will likewise be a larger difference than a 5 dollar drug scale from AliExpress vs a lunar.

Maybe I'm biased from making 10s of thousands (probably hundreds of thousands) of espressos.

if you dont want to buy a whole new coffee maker i would probably say specialty coffee.
for some basic drip probably dark roast because those things just burn the coffee anyway.
or if you do want to buy a new thing but not really put any more effort in you could get an automatic pour over machine and again use specialty coffee, i also assume you are using some pre ground dogshit right now so pre ground specialty will still be better.
here watch these and see which one appeals to you the most.

Ingredients:
>Ground Aldi's Breakfast Blend(the one with the rooster on it).
>RATIO: ONE CUP COFFEE-4 CUPS WATER
>Star anise (~2 pods/1 teaspoon),
>Vanilla extract,
>Cloves (2-4 cloves to taste; you can always add more at the end but you can't take away!),
>Cinnamon (about 1/2 to 1 stick, or, 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground),
>Ginger (4 teaspoons),
>Nutmeg (1 teaspoon. Remember that nutmeg is sweet and you're adding sweetened milk, this recipe makes 4 servings!) to taste,
>1/4 cup coconut cream (NOT CREAM OF COCONUT, that is sweetened), 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk (total, so 1/16 cup or 1 tablespoon per drink, of each),

Cold brew, hot bloom your coffee: pour about 1.5 cups of hot water over the grounds, shove your spices and vanilla in while it's still hot, allow to bloom for 30 seconds, then pour over the rest of your water. Let steep in the fridge or at room temp--covered, obviously--overnight. Let those flavors get to know eachother and mingle. You can add your 1/2 cup coconut cream and 1/2 cup S.C. milk now, or 1/16 cup each, per drink, when you are serving it. I prefer now.

Take that bitch out, filter it through a fine meshed sieve. Drink it.

Makes the process so much quicker and easier than having to soak it every 3 days. I wanted a small bath for electronics and shit anyway so it was a no brainer. Half a bump of cafiza + a shot of kettle water and press the button. You can have sparkling clean screens and baskets before your machine warms up. But the discs are better 100%. Can't fucking believe I paid normcore $20 for an extra mesh one.
