If you were to go into straight poverty mkde. How well do you think you'd be able to eat with you current knowledge of cooking and lifestyle?

Especially with the way the economy is going now, probably would be a reality

I think I can eat pretty okay on a very small budget. My meals usually consist of vegetables for the most part, a grain in the form of rice, pasta, or occasionally quinoa, which would probs have to be dropped, and then meat occasionally.
You can make just about anything root veggies and hearty greens, and they're cheap az to boot.

Do you have any independent thrift stores near you? Like not the brand name stores like Salvation Army or Goodwill. The independent stores usually have great deals on steak knives or grill utensils. A couple around me sell them for .33 or .50 cents each if they aren't part of a set.

What do you mean "if"? I'm a neet, I've been in poverty mode for years. Cook my own food every day and probably only go to the restaurant/order out a couple of times a year.

I can live quite comfortably on 20c per 100g of food. I used to be able to get that down to 10c/100g, but inflation happened.

Extremely well. I already eat cheaply. Lots of food harvested and preserved in the summer.
I eat lots of eggs. I'd have to start collecting or growing food for the birds of things got really poor.
I feed five people on almost nothing. Most of my cash is spent on fruits, dairy, staples like flour, rice, potatoes, beans, clearance meat.

Pretty well. I turned much of my back yard into a large garden when the libs caused food shortages in 2020, so I've got a near-infinite supply of herbs, mint, tomatoes, figs, and chili peppers.

Buying staples like beans, rice, pasta, pork butt, and chicken thighs in bulk is cheap as fuck, and with my garden's produce, I could make quite a variety of good meals without spending much.

Hello this is Chef John from FoodWishes.com with... Kewpie™ Airfied Mayo Chickpeas! This might sound a little bit strange but it works. It works really, really well. And unlike the more popular Chickpea dishes, this requires very little effort and almost no finesse or technique. There's no grinding or sifting involved.

The first thing you want to do is get your can of chickpeas and drain the liquid from them. Some people might want to use a sifter but you don't actually have to.

We'll go ahead and fill the can with water and drain it again to get rid of the preservatives and salt. Now dump the can of chickpeas into an airfryer and set it for 7 minutes. Depending on your airfryer you may want to set it longer for that extra crispy texture.

We'll go ahead and get out Kewpie™ not-mayonnaise out and add a generous serving of it over our chickpeas but not generous enough that it overwhelms the chickpeas. We'll give it a quick stir with the spoon and that's it. My take on what I consider a proper mediterranean meal.
And as always... enjoy!
