im from california but even im confused but my guess has to do with them mimicing in-n-out and how you can add patties to your burger.
wouldnt be surprised if that burger has some sort of thousand island dressing too.

California style burgers always have lettuce/tomato/onion and thousand island. Sometimes grilled ongyun.

Don’t see it here but avocado is also common on Cali Style Items

>> No.18338665

Adding avocado, or occasionally something similarly “healthy” like sprouts etc is what makes a Cali burger.

It’s mostly a meme desu and doesn’t matter. But those burgers don’t qualify.

Lettuce and tomato. That's where they're grown. It's kind of a Midwestern thing to serve like, mustard-onion-pickles as basic burger toppings, and refer to the addition of lettuce and tomato as "california style".

Australian chain looked it up. Cheapest burger is under 7 USD. So fair pricing. Looks like the copied the best of USA burgers. Here in USA a "cali" burger 100 % of the time means has avocado on it. Even in CA they will have a "cali" burger on their menu. The ausie cali burger is apparently a In N Out "double double" so no avocado. For those not in USA what makes In N Out special is the quality for the price. $4.60 for a double double or 6.72 AUD. FYI...
