When you get invited to a party and they're having a bbq what's your strategy?

Imagine there's no restrictions on the food on offer. Do you just spend the whole day going up for burgers? Do you like to start off a with a salad? Or do you like to try everything on offer?

I smoke a joint with some of the other dudes there. If it's not going to be that kind of BBQ, I smoke in my car.

Have you ever tried like, stepping back, watching what other people are doing, assessing the situation, and generally just trying to pretend like you're not a fucking autist for a single day?

The hell did anything OP suggest give off the vibe of autism?
Why would you change what you prefer to get just because other people choose to get something else?

>> No.18328383

Never considered it.
I live in the Midwest and usually every weekend in the summer someone is having a BBQ on the block, but I don't recall ever being invited to one or my Mom owning a grill or using it. Don't have one myself.
I guess that is a bit weird come to think of it.

congratulations you are as autistic as OP. people without autism typically consider other people in their decisions.

I once went to a BBQ with 10 pounds of Salmon.
Definitely worth it :)

At the start I like to have a sit down plate of food. So I'll get salad, potato salad, coleslaw, corn and some chicken. After that I'll do a burger. Then I'm pretty much done for food. If some sausages are on offer or more chicken I'll consider it. I'll always try to appreciate whatever the host has gone to the effort of serving. It's only polite.

Why is no-one mentioning any of the good BBQ meats? Brisket, pork shoulder, ribs and chicken should all be served at a proper affair, with burgers, skewers, and sausages as appetizers while the other meats are still smoking. Fatback from the pork is used to cook the greens and sausage chunks and ground beef diced into the baked beans, At a minimum for sides there should be at least one potato/pasta salad as well as a regular salad. My family would call it a most shamefur dispray and publicly disown my ass if I invited company over and served nothing but burgers and dogs.

As a male over 25, I spend most of the time hovering by the grill to tell the cook how everything is supposed to be done, then try a bit of everything before explaining why he should have listened to me.

Beer.

The guy throwing the party has the meat, sides are always welcome but I leave that to the women. I bring a suitcase of beer.

This is how you get a whole crowd of people not eating anything. Be a trendsetter.
