What's the cheapest food you can survive on? Please share some tips bros

>> No.17999250

Cock

>> No.17999257

Potatoes. They contain almost every nutrient you need, are cheap as fuck, and are filling. Microwave them and add butter and salt

You just have to learn to cook.

Very easy to live on a $50 per month food budget if you don't mind eating the same things over and over..

It's natural to cut down a lil but are you really expecting someone to be content with, what is that, 2.3 ounces of chicken/day?

Satisfied? No, not really. You'll be eating chicken and lentil stew over giant bowls of rice every day. OP asked about survival, not about the most satisfying meals.

You're going to be eating lentil chicken stew

I couldn't find anything cheaper than that in stock at my store, unfortunately. I normally buy leg quarters, though because I like chicken thighs.

If you want to be super cheap, buy from a bulk supply store like www.webstaurantstore.com

I get stuff from them all the time, you could buy 100 lbs of rice from them for like $50.

Yes, it's often good to buy in bulk and compare prices.

that will result in horrible ttexture. Put them in cold water, heat them up slowly, add plenty of salt once the waterr is boiling, then cook them for 30 minutes (whole medium to large sized potatoes).

eating nothing but cup noodles every day will probably kill you. microwaving a potato every day is marginally healthier

Lot of Indian food is really cheap to make, once you have invested in spices. This is because many dishes don't use any meat. Its all veggies, lentils and rice, flour.

Something like Dal(lentil stew) + rice, you can eat for less than 50c per meal and its easy to cook in bulk too.

At least give your country because it varies from country to country.

In bongistan, you can make a full meal with potatoes, baked beans, vegetables(carrots, onions, swede) for less than 10p/100g. Deserts/snacks can be bananas and a few store-brand biscuits. Milk is also less than 10p/100ml for now. Unfortunately rice, pasta, meat, cheese, eggs, many fruits and vegetables, and most biscuits and other snacks are now above that limit, so they would be luxuries.

The best thing if you can only really afford a very small amount of stuff is bread, margarine, peanut butter and eggs.
If you can have a larger list:
>bread
>peanut butter
>margarine
>eggs
>rice
>potato
>lentis
>canned tomatos
>onions
>apples (depending on where you are)
>oranges (required to avoid scurvy)
>flour
>pasta
>minced beef
>chicken (depending on where you are will change what you get cheaply)

These threads never go over short/long terms to be honest and it should be emphasized more. If it's short you should be satisfied even going vegetarian or even just egg rice, potatoe, onions, and tabasco, medium like 2-4 months then you should have a small rotation of meats to keep yourself from getting depressed, long term 5+ and you should invest in some more expensive but really long lasting things that will greatly enhance what you make. Like pic related. You need like a tablespoon of it to make a restaurant quality gravy.

Onions and potatoes are cheap as fuck. For protein buy some frozen chicken. Add some canned tomatoes and whatever cheap vegetables you can find as well as lots of butter or whatever to make it filling. You can make some relatively tasty slop this way.

Bulk sweet potatoes, bulk canned oily fish, bulk frozen source of vitamin C. I think this would cover everything you need to live.
