I had it about 14 months ago. Soda pop and toothpaste taste fucking horrendous now but didnt notice a changw other then that. Never been much of a pop drinker but aftwr i got it any sort of pop now tastes like rotten sour piss water and ive pretty much gave up on it. Also brushing my teeth tastes like im using cocaine for toothpaste or something but its a must.

I never got covid, the only people i know who did were teenagers and they reported having "a cold".
I know one person who's a friend of a friend reported a whole range of symptoms but she's a literal hypochondriac who believes she suffers from a dozen different conditions all which seem to stem fairly obviously from anxiety
Someone help her, she can't breathe

I "had" it because I needed a sick leave. Had a diarrhea, was 100% sure (and still am) was stocmach flu. Doctor wanted me to get tested so I could get my sick leave, and it was positive.
I am not convinced, I still think it's stomach flu.
Anyway smell disappeared for 3 days, as I couldn't smell cow shit when I drive. My mother complained about cow shit smell in the car (was driving near a farm) and couldn't feel it. But I always had loss of taste and smell when I have a bad case of flu.

Anyway, 3 days later, all came back to normal for me. My wife never had any taste/smell loss, and my mother couldn't taste for like 5 days. All back to normal for all of us.

Also I would like to add, the smell/taste wasn't completely odorless/tasteless.
I still could smell, if the source is near me. And as for taste, I still could taste, but just less intense. It was far from inedible, and was no different from the other times I had a mild flu.

I didn't lose my taste but ever since (~3 months now) I've been a mucus machine, which complicates my sense of taste in a different way to where I'm craving spicy shit more than before

my body can't STILL be trying to fight it, can it? I only had it for like 3 days and it wasn't worse than a common cold

You don't need taste to eat. Now that we can use other methods of determining if a food has gone bad, taste is useless and hedonistic. The purpose of eating is to gain calories and vitamins to use as fuel so your body keeps living, it's a purely utilitarian act. I wish humans could just insert a gas pump into their bodies and satisfy all energy needs for a week within 2 minutes so I could make better use of my time as a utilitarian instead of wasting so much time eating and preparing food.

you might just have pneumonia. people associate it with a loud hacking cough but sometimes it just makes you have a lot of phlegm. it lingers forever and it doesn't seem bad enough for people to guess what it is so they don't bother getting checked out for it.
