Ice cream is sold by Volume, not weight. Some ice creams will fill up 64 ounces of volume, but that is because more air has been whipped into it. Let me give an example because it's tough to get without it.
This is a Yoplait "Whips" yogurt, which has air whipped into it. The container is the same size as the other yogurts.

The same flavor, but without being churned to add air, is 6oz.
Ideally, ice cream should not have "gums" "gels" and should be dense. Most Ice cream sucks ass.
