You might just need to add more pepper and cheese. But you could add sauteed broccoli, mushroom, eggplant, and/or garlic. Some basil or whatever herb you like is good too.

Are you using real block pecorino and using whole black peppercorns that you are freshly cracking onto the pasta? It is a fairly strongly flavored dish, I am worried you are using pre shredded cheese or not pecorino romano and are using mccormick black pepper.

Toast the pepper in the pan before adding a ladle of pasta water to infuse it. Be generous with the pepper and have variety in pepper size.

Anon, it's pasta, butter, pepper and two cheeses. It's one of the easiest recipes to make and is just a little more complicated than making kraft dinner. It's easy if a little time consuming.

99% of pasta dishes are simpler than cacio e pepe, retard
Actually it's one of the few semi-hard pasta dishes I can think of

Simple ≠ Easy
Complex ≠ Hard

Complex comes from the Latin complectī (“to entwine, encircle, compass, infold”). It means something consists of many different and connected parts.

Cacio e pepe very simple. It's pasta with cheese and black pepper. It's not easy to do right, but it's certainly not complicated.

The entire point of cacio e pepe is that it's minimalistically simple you dense fuck. This is like asking how to cook your meat so that it's tougher.

Add moar pepper. Make sure its freshly ground black pepper.
If you wanna be really extra throw some long pepper in there too.

Also if you accept the premise that cacio e pepe is basically mac n cheese you can basically throw anything else that you would throw in with that in there. I've put deenz or tuna in there for a sort of 'tuna-noodle' type thing and it was pretty good.
