Indonesia just banned palm oil exports

Not relevant. The absence of Indonesian palm oil leaves a massive vacuum that needs to be filled which can and will be filled by Malaysia. Even if Western nations unilaterally embargoed Malaysian palm oil, other Asian countries that don't give a shit about human rights won't. You think China isn't going to be importing Malaysian palm oil to meet their consumer demand? Because of some faggot "save the orangutans" hippie campaign? Get a grip. Bunch of myopic retards in this thread who seem to be missing the most important aspect of this:
>Indonesian palm oil accounts for 36% of all vegetable oil exports
A third of the global cooking oil market is disappearing in a week. You can't simply pull that volume out of your ass to easily replace it. This is going to be a catastrophe in terms of the effects this will have on global food prices, which were already fucked to begin with thanks to the logistics disruptions caused by covid and the loss of Ukrainian/Russian grain.

The number one cause of historically significant political upheavals is food shortages caused by rising food prices.

brands like using palm oil because it allows them to make stable emulsions that are solid at room temp, you can't just switch to some other food oil and hope it works

they'll need to be a bit more creative than that, might turn to soy lecithin + some other oil, but it won't be 1:1 oil consumption to what it is now with palm

that being said 99% of foodstuffs that include palm oil are trash so... fuck em

not really no.
chimps are too uncontrollable, and there are quite a number of intellect tests that they fail where orangs succeed.
chimps lack the ability to delay gratification that is considered a fundamental trait of human intelligence. see for instance this task, in which apes must choose the smaller bowl of food to get the bigger reward later. chimps have repeatedly failed this study because they have chimpbrains, but orangs quickly pick up on the trick:
https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2001-10046-007
there are also a number of unique things that have only been observed in orangutans, despite decades of attempts to goad chimps into doing the same.
for instance, orangs modulate their voice in ways that have only been observed in humans:
https://www.nature.com/articles/srep30315
they are also the only apes who exhibit displaced reference in their vocalizations, something previously thought to be restricted to humans. In memey terms, they "talk about past events":
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30443595/
and there's a lot more.
we tend to ignore orangutans because they're rare and jane goodall was a better sellout than birute galdikas, but there's no real question which is smarter.
also the fact that they're less liable to rip your face off.

They will just switch to fully hydrogenated basedbean oil, which doesn't contain trans fats since it's fully hydrogenated.
It's the partially hydrogenated stuff you have to stay the fuck away from.
When it's fully hydrogenated, it's literally just a saturated fat.
