Am I the only one who dislikes BBQ sauce?

I usually like sweet & salty but BBQ throws me off. It kind of tastes like spiced up puke and ruins any meal for me.

lots of regional versions of barbecue don't fuck with sugar sauce. Either no sauce or vinegar sauce.

you know there are non-sweet sauces you can use. there are also non-spicy sauces, and non-salty sauces. you just have to know where to look.

the other real flaw here is you aren't making your own sauce anyways.

BBQ sauce has to be cooked onto the meat.
This thing where people cook the meat dry then dip into raw sauce is fucking retarded

I also hate the typical american BBQ sauce, its insanely sweet but 73% of this country is fat fucks so it makes sense. Try a carolina mustard based BBQ sauce, I actually really enjoy that variety. Picrel is my favorite store bought BBQ sauce I have ever tried.

Meat isn’t supposed to be sweet

>> No.17555476

"BBQ" is a pretty ubiquitous term but I'll agree that a lot of the cheap brown-sugar-and-tomato based ones are pretty gross. imo it's just as easy to marinate with oil & herbs/spices (even the cheap shit) and the end-product is 10x tastier

Maybe it was just a bad bottle of store brand BBQ sauce but I had to throw it away. Something about it tastes like dirty water was used to make it.

>> No.17555487

You just gotta find the right recipe to stick to son. Lots of attempts at """"bbq""""" sauce out there.

>> No.17555488

Never found it to elevate good bbq meat but I'm sure it's neccesary for poorly made stuff.

What sauces have you tried? A lot of sauces from the store and certain restaurants are just ridiculously sweet, but there are better, more subtle ones.

no, bbq sauce is for people with childish tastebuds.
