Worthless term for Gwyneth Paltrow cooks.
>a handful
That's a full hand of a grown man who's hungry and likes to eat. A handful of spinach weighs roughly the same as a handful of steak.
>a glug
You add alcohol to your dish in their respective glasses. 25 cl for beer and cider, 10 cl for 12° wine and Champagne, 12-15 cl for reds, 2-3 cl for 40° alcohol

Everything else you said I would agree with, but that's some dense ass spinach. An entire big bag weighs the same as how much steak I can hold in my hand.

OK OP as you can't cook.
Only Pastry will really require you to be precise. The ask is that you add these ingredients using your own best judgement as a chef along with your pallet because ultimately there will have inconsistencies in ingredients/cooking/equipment which may need to be balanced out with different measures of certain things.
For someone who actually knows how to cook, someone saying
>a handful of basil
>a pinch of salt
>a glug of olive oil
isn't something that you should have an issue with.

This. Following a recipe is great for beginners. After that, you realize that spices are all to taste and completely interchangeable. Then you compare the same recipe to different ones of the same dish and realize certain ingredients can be tuned up and down to achieve a desired taste or consistency.
