For those that have been homeless, what food did you most appreciate when it was given to you? I rarely carry cash but want to help out in some way and want to know what will help out the most.

>names it after himself

Why are scientists so stupid?

I am not homeless but this bum used sleep outside near my house sometimes and I gave him some bottles of water, packs of tear open shelf stable tuna, and mini packs of jerky I had in my pantry and he was really appreciative of it

Former homeless here.
Dont give cash as a rule. also, dont bother supporting someone you regularly see begging on the corner. if they have a begging spot, 99% of the time theyre scammers too lazy to work, and the other 1% are addicts you should not be giving money to. Like this one bitch. Begged on the intersection by the mall for five years, and every morning driving to work id see her get dropped off at the gas station by her husband in a really nice ford truck. Hell, I was an addict and thats why i went homeless, but 2 months on the street really put things into perspective. Main point is, if youre seeing a bum regularly at regular haunts, he’s a walking corpse and not worth your time, because he isnt going to see you as anything but an ATM.
Nonperishables and things that dont really need to be heated up are golden. As that other anon said, jerky and shelf-stable meats are fantastic.

Friend of mine is homeless, he told me that if he gets given food that isn't in sealed packaging he throws it away. If someone gives him a plastic container of home cooked food it goes straight in the bin.

Yeah that makes sense and it's a real shame.
>>17442384
Yeah that's another reason, at least with food I'm giving them something that fulfills a basic need without needing to worry about getting scammed.
How're you doing by the way? On the up and up?

/ck/ might be the only mod team I actually respect since they're the only ones with the balls to stay on topic even if they do overcorrect sometimes. The way I figure it, it's a food related question with a food related non-bait image, I should be in the clear.

One time I was driving back home from my grandma's house on Thanksgiving. I had a tupperware full of mashed potatoes and gravy. I pulled off the highway and saw a guy with a sign on the side of the road "Please gibe mone. Am sad and poor but no is my fault" and all that shit. I opened my tupperware and threw a few handfuls of mashed potatoes at him.
Fuck beggars.

My friend is a nice guy and a sucker for homeless plight. One time he gave a dude $20 and the dude asked him if he had more. Everyone of his interactions with homeless people is like that. I keep telling him not to fall for their bullshit. If you really want to help the homeless donate food or money to soup kitchens or organizations that help people get back on their feet by helping them get jobs and giving them a safe place to stay till they are able to go back on their own.

Not me, they have a feminist vegan bias that does not belong on this board.
I don't mind feminists or vegans but when a mod is one and you can easily tell, it really ruins the board

I've never been homeless, but in college I got to eat for free at the Jewish frat for Shabbat every first Friday of the month. As long as I took part in their weird rituals and complained about the university not putting Israel on their maps I got to eat like a king. They don't cheap out when it comes to feeding their own.

Never feed or give money to a subhuman homeless. Report, insult and crush them in any way you can. Use physical violence on them to get rid of their disease for the betterment of society.
