Keto combined with intermittent fasting is probably the easiest way for most people to lose weight and fix their metabolic issues. It's not a magical fix though and I do think the emphasis on getting into ketosis is a little overhyped. The prime advantages is that you (should) eat more real foods and less processed crap on keto. Your body has 3 main ways of producing energy before it cannibalizes muscle and these work on a priority system of glycolysis > glycogenolysis > ketolysis. Glycolysis breaks down glucose which is basically sugars and sugar like compounds (carbs), not all is burned and some is stored as glycogen. These stores go second when you don't eat much sugars and carbs. When your glycogen stores are low, ketones are produced from fat and then burned to make the highest amount of cellular energy (ATP) of the three options at the cost of making your blood acidic (ketogenic acidosis, aka ketoacidosis). Ketones are produced in the liver, which cannot make use of ketones for energy but can keep the rest of the body going.

Pure consumption of nothing but fats will lead to a pH imbalance in your blood and effectively send you to the hospital once you kill off your glucose and glycogen reserves and your body relies solely on ketones (fats) for energy for a sustained period of time either from ketoacidosis or a literally dying liver. You essentially want to go on a "dirty" keto diet to have some freely available sugars to burn and balance your blood pH and then have a majority of the rest of your diet come from ketones.

Carnivore can work, but you need to supplement a few things. And if you think carnivore means steak and chicken wings you'll be deficient in even more. First you need more fat than muscle meat commonly contains, then you need more micronutritients (can be found in organ meats, but those can polluted).
Still, there is decent research that keto has advantages and works for certain purposes - and there is no decent research that carnivore is better than a keto diet that watches for the right kind of fat. So go for that cabbage and avocado and whipped cream. Any extreme category restriction diet is probably going to help you lose weight especially initially, because you will be so bored from the limited amount of things you are able to eat that you will stop eating for pleasure.

Carnivore and keto are nice because your blood sugar is basically always low so you’ll always be mobilizing lipids and catabolizing triglycerides to fuel gluconeogensis and/or ketosis (if you cut enough carbs). weight loss is different than fat loss. I've lost weight with all of these, but consistently with keto I lose fat rather than muscle mass. I also am able to do this while maintaining high energy levels, good clear focus, and all of my other life expectations.

my diet is meat and or animal fat based, but with a close-to-equal volume of plants ("green leafy vegetables" + herbs and spices -no fruits faggot). A good example meal is a bratwurst, a hamburger patty, a slice or two of cheese, and a small pile of kimchi, usually along water or coffee or propel/sugar free electrolyte beverage. I don't take supplemental ketones, and I consistently blow a 2.5+ on a meter.

if you get your fiber and electrolytes, there is no 'keto flu'.

sweets are a thing that could derail me, so identifying this and having an acceptable variety of sweets has been critical.
