It’s amazing for what it is; dirt-cheap street food to have with alcohol.
If you aren’t in Japan and order it at a restaurant, it’s fairly certain you aren’t getting it freshly made and that it was frozen.
It can still be decent, but you can also buy the exact same thing at an Asian grocery with a decent frozen section and make it yourself.
Good takoyaki will have a large piece of octopus. The frozen stuff often has multiple small chunks of it instead.
