I really like taking a bunch, 4 or more, depending on size, and putting them in a crock pot or a dutch oven with some cream of mushroom soup and slow cooking and serving over either rice or mashed potatoes or biscuits. I've eaten a lot of squirrel and I've enjoyed every bite of it

Well, other than old/injured animals they would have some times been eaten during times of starvation due to poor harvests and such, where short term survival was more important than having an additional car/tractor next year. Like, if you have 5 cars and no steaks, it's probably worth getting rid of one car to get a lot of steaks.

Cats
Ants
Anteater
Caiman
Turtle
Snake (jibóia)
Sloth
Centipedes

Capivara
Monkey (yes, sopa de macaco)

Grew up in Wesley Chapel Florida, before it was (((developed))) and turned into a strip mall and (((luxury))) apartments. It was basically still dirt roads and swamp. I grew up eating squirrel, coon, possum, armadillers, gator, frog, wild boar, deer, the only "normal" meat we'd eat was when a hen got too old to lay eggs, she'd be turned into a pot pie or chicken and dumplins. People don't believe me, especially if they see my old stomping grounds today, but it's true. Squirrel is tasty as hell, like a nutty chicken, really the same texture as chick too.
