How so?
30 tacos for $10 is a good deal in itself.
But requiring 30 separate trips to Taco Bell.
I mean if your closest Taco Bell is only 5min away, so 10min round trip, that still means 5 fucking hours of driving in total over the month.
5hrs in your car, 5hrs worth of gas burned, just to have 30 tacos one at a time over the course of a month.
So yeah, actually going is what makes it a shit deal.

>> No.17232766

>>17232743

>oh but only that one the other cheap fast food chains are fine I’m cool with those :)
Yeah, nah, you’d say the same shit if this were a McDonald’s or Burger King or whatever else thread.
Because for some reason you feel compelled to proclaim how “above it” you are on a fucking anonymous Internet forum.

>> No.17232775

>>17232756
>So yeah, actually going is what makes it a shit deal.
Fair, but this would still be deal for some worker with a commute where they pass it 5 or so days a week anyway.
Says more about commutes in general being a drain on your income.

>> No.17232797

>>17232775
I just wish I could see their marketing projections.
It’s 100% certain they have test program data showing just how few tacos the average person who participates will get.
I’m sure only a small percentage of people would actually go all 30 days.
And on the days they *do* go, it’s all but guaranteed they’ll end up ordering more than just their one free taco.

Coincidentally, when I was in college, there was a Taco Bell literally across the street from my apartment.
Damn right my broke student ass would have gone every day.

>> No.17232880

>>17232775
>Says more about commutes in general being a drain on your income.
The interesting thing about commuting to an office when your official workplace is "home" is that your commutes are now paid travel time and also eligible for mileage reimbursement.

>> No.17232945

I'll probably get this, but I get TB like 4-5 times a week. For casuals it's a pretty bad deal, and obviously just a different attempt at a loss leader (implying their tacos really cost them more than 50 cents) after nuking the value menu.

>> No.17232969

>>17232945
>loss leader
Nah. They’ll be in the green with it for sure.
I’ve literally never seen someone go to Taco Bell and order only one taco and nothing else. They’ll get at least another taco and maybe a drink.
Plus it’s use-or-lose. The vast majority of people who buy that are probably not going to go all 30 days.

>> No.17232977

>>17232969
>literally never seen someone go to Taco Bell and order only one taco and nothing else
Yes, that's the point of a loss leader.

>> No.17233001

>>17232977
What I’m saying is the deal itself probably won’t result in a net loss, even without considering additional sales, because almost nobody is going to actually get the full 30 tacos.
They’ll buy it on impulse and maybe end up getting 10-15.

>> No.17233009

>>17233001
>what i'm saying
You made two points and I addressed one of them. I said in my first post that it's a bad deal if you don't already go to TB regularly. (I put the tacos at 50 cents based on the fact that I personally go there around 4-5 times a week.) I'm not disagreeing with anything you said; it just seemed like you didn't understand what a loss leader is.

That's what a loss leader does.
That's how it works.
The taco itself is a loss that's made up for the additional sales it LEADs to.

On slickdeals thread, people are using other zip codes (search kimball, mi) to get them for $5 bucks. So if you just go 3 times (most tacos are around 2 bucks) you'll break even. Yeah going there just for 1 taco seems like a waste to some but if you go pick up a taco on your way home from work or errands -- perfectly reasonable. Go more than 3 times and you're profiting. My job is literally across the street from on so I'm debating. But I never eat fast food but taco bell is my guilty once maybe twice a year pleasure. Always regret it afterwards. I do go crazy those one or two times.

I just don't know if I can commit driving over after I worked a 10 hour day getting a taco just to throw it in my fridge and eat it some other time.
Why is this such a tough decision?

>> No.17241912

I would consider it a, here's a bonus random taco in the equation of whatever we're having for dinner tonight. It holds no weight to the dinner I have planned. It could be a snack or just placed in the fridge as a meal for the next day.
All I know is that, as conveniently located as one is to my work I'm seriously on the fence because it ends up being around .30-.40 a taco which is a great deal for as just a snack or full meal for myself or my wife and her son

>>17241912
This is you again and you think you came up with a better answer. Who the fuck goes to Taco Bell to bring home a single taco several days a month when you have dinner at home. I don't know what you consider a good deal but you'll have to go there a lot to not lose. and you will buy something you wouldn't have done if you didn't get that stupid pass. Anyway, if you feel the need to snack on fast food every fucking day you're the one who lack self control

I've never understood people who bitch about gas prices like it's the end of the world. Like, are you a trucker or a big corporation? Or are you driving 10 minutes to Taco Bell? It's a couple extra dollars to fill up the tank, and it's not like you're filling up more than once or twice per month - everyone knows you're not going anywhere.

All my locations are hit or miss. It's more common to get a 2 pound dollar burrito that's absolutely stacked (well, not anymore...), but occasionally they just flake out and give you shit like this. I eat a lot of Taco Bell but have no problem calling them out on their flaws, and inconsistency is both a blessing and a curse.

I go there almost everyday before work. I was on a Chick-fil-A kick for a while, but the Taco Bell app has kept me coming back ever since I hit FIRE reward level. Taco Bell has been my go-to since the 80s, so I have always eaten there a lot. My local Bell workers know be by name, and one of the shift leaders is an old white lady that treats me like she's my mom, and I always get hooked up with the proper amount of meat and cheese etc. I even left a good review talking about the great morning crew for corporate on their feedback section in the app. There is another location that is closer by a couple of miles but it is pig disgusting, I go 10 miles out of my way in the morning to visit the good location.
