Being in touch with your local community is really beneficial for a whole lot of reasons anon.

As I mentioned to someone else a second ago, if you think coffee shops are about efficiently serving drinks, you've got it very wrong. A whole lot of people either live in suburban wasteland and have no options or grew up associating the whole coffee shop thing with a couple of fast food/beverage brands.

I currently live in flyover country USA and there are still at least 15 good local coffee shops close to me. Usually there are some real good seats too, if you get there when things are slow and post up.

I work from home mostly and they are perfect spots. This one spot house makes syrups on a rotating seasonal menu and creams oat milk perfectly, another spot has the best cold brew i have anywhere and roast beans where you see the date roasted, and some spots just look really nice and are relaxing to work or study in. do people not go to small businesses at all?

and I dont understand the meme about ordering frappe-latte-unicorn coffee slushies, you can order what you want so its your fault if you order a faggy drink. not to mention in nyc/philly area their are many places that actively hate that shit and strictly serve ice coffee/black/ and non flavoured lattes.

In the drive-thru the staff are perfectly pleasant until they see my face, I think it is because I don't look like rainbow-alphabet-gender or a criminal.
Then there are the beggars that the staff refuse to chase off, they try your doors and knock on your window while you're stuck in line.
Last time I went to a coffee shop I was driving my wife's car. Forgot to lock the doors, this filthy stinking crazy women opens the passenger door and screams at me "THIS IS NOT YOUR CAR!!!".
Wife's key chain has pepper spray, I emptied it at her, went out and dragged this crying flailing bitch away from the wheels into the landscaping. Rolled down the windows and fan on high to clear out the little hint of mace.
At the window there seemed to be a lot of confused chattering going on. I got the coffee with a side of displeased scowling and left.
Get home with wife's coffee and told her what happened, and that we're never going there again.
"She's been a problem for years there. You had your luger, why didn't you shoot her?"

A coffee shop opened maybe a quarter mile from my apartment building a few years ago. It is slightly hipster, but since, even more hipster cafes have emerged in my city.

Their coffee is good and their pastries are decent as well. They used to have kolaches and the spicy spinach (indian flavors) one was the best in my humble opinion.

I would only go maybe once every week or two, often on the way back home from bicycle rides as a treat to reward myself for exercising.

It closed during COVID and now I believe it is a book shop but I haven't really checked because I know it doesn't serve coffee anymore.

The other nearby coffee shop is owned by Christians and I won't support that.

I got addicted to coffee during COVID. I used to drink it once a week or so. In March of last year, I started buying cold brew coffee for home I guess just to kill the time really. It isn't as bad withdrawals as THC, which itself is measurably less than alcohol or benzos, but still its kinda funny to me covid happened (which is just very overblown here and ppl are tired of it) - and all that changed is my coffee shop closed and I got addicted to caffeine.
