I freeze minced meat, but when i get to cook it, it always looks like this and the smell is not appealing at all. How do i make it not be like this?

what type of "meat" is minced?

You have two options. Let it thaw completely, preferably in the fridge. Or cook it then freeze it.

naturally in by moving it to fridge side or microwave? I assume the latter

What even is your problem? Also your meat looks weird and it's not because it's frozen

>> No.17136325

If you forgot to thaw it, let the pack sit in a sink filled with warm to hot water for about an hour. Unless you have a giant piece of meat that usually does the trick in a pinch. Might be slightly frozen in the middle, but that's no problem for ground beef.

>> No.17136332

>>17136325
You don't thaw frozen meat up in hot water. In your fridge. Jeez, these guys.

>> No.17136347

>>17136332
you misread the part of the post where it says "if you forgot to thaw it"
implying that you want to eat now, but the meat is still frozen. thawing a sealed package of frozen ground meat in hot water works in that case, though it is of course inferior to going back in time 6 hours and putting the meat in the fridge, so you can have it now.

>> No.17136354

>>17136332
Of course the fridge is superior. But that's not what the post was about. It's a back up plan if you forgot.

The thing with microwave thawing is it tends to boil parts of the meat before the whole thing is properly thawed. That or it becomes tough.
But Maybe Ive had microwaves with shitty thaw function.

english grammar is stupid easy. compared to french or german it is extremely static and formulaic. you learn that a statement is always put in the order of subject, predicate, object and you're done learning about that. you learn that a question is always predicate subject object and you're done.
compare that to any other language you know (hopefully better than english) and you'll recognize how many nuances there are, that you just don't need in a grammar that is so robotically simple as english grammar.

Always thaw overnight in the fridge if you can.

Defrosting like this takes too long, which gives the bacteria time to multiply and shit in your food.

Also you're supposed to flatten things before freezing them.

>> No.17138347

This is an English website.

>> No.17138415

>defrost your mince
>chop some aromatics (onions, peppers)
>lightly season with salt and pepper (if no peppercorn)
>sauté them in oil for a few minutes
>add a sprinkle of your favorite dry herbs or some spices (try rosemary, thyme, cracked peppercorn)
>stir well and saute for a few more mins
>put in your mince
>use a flat edged utensil to break it down
>stir well
>lightly season with salt and pepper again
>cook until done
>serve on rice

there you go faggot. switch this to basil and oregano then drop in a can of tomato product with some olive oil and cook for 20 mins if you want a meat sauce.

mush it up, boil off the water, then when it's dry you can finally brown it. add lard and use something that ISN'T non-stick for best results.
