You DO season your stainless steel pans, don't you, /ck/?

I didn't initially, but after around 15 years of use, it's very nicely seasoned.

I did OP pic as an experiment once I saw the vid.
It was just a cheap-o $20 10 inch pan.
My OP pic was about 12 separate seasonsings on med-lo.

There was no oil or butter in pan.
It was certainly not as slick feeling as a teflon, but I could slide it around in the pan just by swirling the pan after about 3+ minutes.
I took pics, but my stove is black, the pan was dark brown and the egg was all washed out, so it's just a solid, white blot--you can't even see the yolk--so the pics are crap. (Posted the one from the 4m mark anyway.)

Look, my friends
You season a stainless steel pan by putting it on high heat and coating the bottom with highheat oil. Then you take it off and vigorously rub course salt into the inner bottom of the pan. Then heat it some more over high heat burner. It doesn't need to look darkened or burned. It's a very light seasoning, you might not barely even see it at all.

There you go, eggs will slip right off.
Is secret technique, don't tell the others.

seasoning defeats the purpose of using stainless steel in the first place
you use stainless when you want the protein to cook to the surface so you can develop a fond to use in sauces

>> No.17074851

>>17074799
Stainless steel IS non stick if you aren't retarded and don't cook at the wrong temperature.

If you don't have the patience for learning stainless than get carbon steel--which is meant to be polomarized.

One of the purposes of of stainless is to allow you to cook more acidic ingredients like tomato or balsamic reductions and those will strip the polymer and that will fuck up the flavor.

You should never cook acidic foods on something petinad.

Also, if you want an egg fast use cast iron or the fucking microwave.
