Depending on what was in the can or jar, how long before I will be able to take the trash out, is it going to sit in the recycle bin and stink up the garage and attract mice or is it high summer so flies have a chance to hatch maggots in it .

Where do you live where you have trash sitting outdoors long enough to rot and attract animals? Not trying to be an ass, I’m genuinely curious.
My parents live in the absolute middle of rural nowhere with no garbage collection service but just take their trash to a local household garbage facility every couple of days.
