I just bring beef jerky or a bag of candy like malted milk balls or gummy bears. I've been leaning more towards the latter since these bags went from $10 to $15. I used to bring pizza to my Sunday group but that campaign fell apart because of faggotry, I don't really even talk to those people anymore.

Whenever i've DMd I've told cunts to eat before arriving.
Food always slows down the game, distracts people and turns what could be a 3 hour D&D session followed by casual beers after, into an 8~12h mega-session with people playing on their phones and "hang on man i'll roll the dice after I finish this slice of pizza".

I cook dorky medieval times esque food (chicken quarters etc) or make a charcuterie board with meats and cheeses. I like to incorporate the meals into the game too. I usually make really nasty mixed drinks for them when ever they are in a bar or find questionable potions in a chest. Of course there are also days where we just eat sour gummy worms and drink pbrs. From my fairly limited d&d experience I've dealt with 2 kinds of annoying players.

The d&d is serious business kind:
>Absolute rulefag who never wants anyone to play creatively or have fun at all
>Obnoxiously strict about RP
>Refuses to cut anyone slack if they missed little details
>Wants to completely no-life the game and treat it like a job
Had a DM that wanted to meet on Sat and Sun every week and have 10 hour sessions both days, he saw nothing wrong with that and when the players said they had other shit they needed to do on the weekends he gave them the old, "well I guess you don't really want to play then." That group didn't last long.

The not at all serious kind:
>On their phone whenever not actively making a decision
>Zones out during anything other than combat and constantly needs refreshers
>Flaky and often shows up to sessions an hour or more late.

The worst is when both types are in the same group, sparks really fly then.

Why is it so hard to find players who are flexible and just want to enjoy the game?

You have to split the difference. I DM'd for awhile and made it a no phones/tablets/whatever rule. Pencil, paper, physical dice. Used railroading only when they clearly weren't picking up on quest hints, otherwise I let them do whatever they wanted. Made for a pretty engaging time with people just doing whacky shit, making me adhoc rules like could a kobold use medium grieves as a breastplate or whatever.

It was fun but the level of improv skills required is exhausting

You could try a public game at a local game store but I don't go to those these days because D&D getting popular has attracted the worst kind of people, as is the case with anything else. In my last public game someone managed to break one of my dice and I got barfed on by a MtF who hit a dab pen too hard. IIRC everyone in the group was a class that had magic but I was the only one who showed up with spells picked out and written down.
