Why do people like ultra-light toast? What's even the point in toasting it if it's still raw coming out of the toaster?

I like warm bread.

It's not raw, the bread is already baked. But I agree toast should be crispy

It gets crispy on the outside but it's still soft and fluffy on the inside

Before browning starts the surfaces get drier and drier...and depending on the bread itself, thickness, age, type, it turns into a crisp cracker that cuts up the gums in your palate, or it has a dual texture of recrisped crusts, and moist interior. Flavor is the other half of it. Not everyone wants browned flavor.

When I do a BLT, I only want it lightly toasted, just something to foil the moistening effect of mayo and also keep the bread from squishing or falling apart when it's stuffed to the gills withthe tomatoes and lettuce.

When I toast bread to eat outright, it's about cooking the crusts. Your pic #4 is burned, and that's for people that want charcoal effect, people with upset tummies.

I unironically like black burnt toast. One day I accidentally burnt my toast like pic related, but it was the last of my bread so I just said fuck it and ate it and it was really good. It almost tasted sweeter than normal and wasn't what I expected at all.

I'm with you, dude. People say eating charred food like that is a cancer risk, but what the fuck isn't? So, I say burn it all.

This is how I did my bread as a kid for about two years. Would do max settings on the toaster, and toast it twice. One day the toaster caught on fire and my parents banned me from ever doing that again. Since then I've come to prefer extremely light toasting, unless it's for cinnamon-sugar toast in which case I'll do it golden

>> No.16852566

I like it light because it takes toppings better without getting to the super crumbly cracker stage where the spreading knife comes back completely covered in crumbs or every bite showers the table in bread bits and eviscerates the roof of my mouth.

Crispy toast is only edible if you absolutely fucking soak the bitch in butter or something similar. Lightly toasted bread can be lightly coated with butter and be delicious.

>> No.16852983

>>16848703
depends on what im putting on the toast, if its breakfast i want it light as can be, for pb&j i want it done a bit more for firmness, and if its tuna or another meat sandwich, i want it more done for the crunchyness

yeah, mark twain had it right. as long as you dont go full hedonist there is really no point in living your life essentially in a bubble. driving on the freeway is a cancer risk, living in a city is a cancer risk, grilling is a cancer risk. eat your food how you like, anon.

I usually do normal toast but sometimes just warm enough to melt the butter through it is nice.

reheating bread reverses the staling process. Sometimes you don't want much colour or crunch. Simple as.
