I find that most small euro stores have a good variety. A russian or a romanian store might carry polish stuff etc.

So...sardines?

>> No.16645786

>>16645767
yes. sprats are a sub-group of small herring, and the fish are smaller than most other sardines. riga gold is a latvian brand using brisling sprats from the baltic sea and are smoked more heavily for a smokier flavour.

sardines are meatier while sprats are closer to normal fish texture
sprats are smoked
sprats are significantly smaller

they're not really the same. like salmon and tuna are not the same, in terms of flavor and texture

Technically they are sardines.

You have the pilchard which is the true sardine.

Yet many kinds of small fish, including "sprattus sprattus" are canned, and when it's called, it's called sardines.

>only east yuro anons have experienced this.
Lots of what marketed as sardines, are sprattus sprattus, for example King Oscar sardines.

Sprats are deenz you faggot. Almost all the deenz you can buy in Northern and Eastern Europe are sprats. Sardines is an umbrella term for a lot of different fishes.

They are/aren’t the same depending on where you want to split hairs; like yellowfin and skipjack are different fish, but both tuna.

Here (like 5 mins from my house, not Canada in general) it's like a giant pizza oven with two conveyors, and fans set up to keep the smoke in the oven - maple chips and charcoal, natural gas burners. Some things take two trips, but most of what they do is just a single ride through, hanging from the "hot" or "cold" conveyor.
