You can try the Normandy cider that comes in champagne(-style) bottles. Stay away from anything that says "Doux"/"Sweet". Go for the "Brut", as anon here: >>16596846 said.

definitely not a canadian issue unless you live in bumfuck alberta or sask or something, cideries are huge in ontario and west coast, there are a lot of dry cider options that are great, you gotta pay up though.

Woodchuck is bottled in Vermont, so you should be able to find some in leafland EZ. It's not dry, but also not alcoholic apple juice. Tastes like, well, cider. Angry Orchard is OK imo, but definitely not sugary sweet.

Well in that case, so is a plain apple, faggot. If OP wants something that doesn't taste like a fucking apple then he should say so. I thought he was talking about things like McKenzie's or Kopparberg where they actually add sugar. Idk why you're bothering with cider when you clearly don't like apples. Go drink wine.

This is the best for cool fall days. It's like a summer shandy, except with a quality cider (instead of cheap lemonade) and quality beer (instead of piss water). The only problem is that it's only available in Wisconsin and it's only seasonally available.

A lot of mass-produced "cider" in both USA and UK is adulterated with glucose syrup.

If you're in USA, look for pic related. You get traditional dry cider plus a few actually decent flavored ones (ginger and hopped).

If you have a quality beer/wine store with imports, then look for unfiltered French or Belgian in 750ml bottles. Beware, though, some may have a raw "barnyardy" taste that may be too far in the other direction for you.

Or you might try making it yourself. Supermarket cider and yeast is all it takes to get started. If you're lucky like me, then you'll have a local orchard that sells unpasteurized cider specifically for fermentation. Just know that the results will be a bit "rough" compared to the commercial options, which are often filtered, clarified, and have added carbonation.

Up to about 14 different brands off the top of my head, with everything from Kopparberg to Atacama, not to include the different varieties within each. That's also excluding the ciders i've only had once at a local cider festival and have yet to see since. I appreciate a good dry cider absolutely (I've enjoyed ones that put the driest white wines to shame), but if you only want ciders that taste nothing of apple, go fuck yourself with a rusty drill bit, because your opinion means nothing. It's people like you that created the abomination known as Original Sin.

The issue is types of apples. Most French/Belgian apples are made primarily with crab apples, whereas most supermarket cider is primarily dessert apples. The sugar and tannins between both are way too different, and crab apples have a ton of skin extra which makes a huge impat on flavor. If you can get yourself a ton of crab apples you can blend them into supermarket cider (unpasteurized) and come out with something not terrible.

Sounds tasty and the 3L box is nice. Unfortunately English cider imports in our part of USA are quite limited. There is domestic "craft" cider available regionally, but nothing quite like this:

>Salty Dog
>"A cloudy medium cider. Ripe and juicy fruit with hint of farmhouse funk."

Namely the last part. Now in the world of wine, "barnyard" or "farmhouse" scents/flavors are sometimes euphemisms, but I quite like them in cider. Something of an acquired taste though, like super-smelly cheese, perhaps why they are not more popular in American craft cider. The closest thing that I have locally is a boutique brewery with some unusual, delicious but "untamed" sour beers. (Expensive, though.)

Buy unfiltered apple juice and some cans of frozen apple juice concentrate. Mix to a sugar content of 100~120 g of sugar/litre. This will result in 6~7% ABV. Get some tannin powder for white wine and some champagne yeast from a brewing supplier and some glass demijohns, a siphon, sterilising agent and some swing-top bottles. Add 10 grams of sugar per litre of cider after filling your bottles, which will carbonate your cider after a few weeks of bottle fermentation.
