Please learn your own fucking quirks America

It's one thing to call all preserves and Jams Jelly because you stupidly call all jelly Jell-o after 1 brand.
But there literally is a fruit spread called jelly and it's exactly the same as Jam without fruit pieces in it, you strain it after cooking and using Pectin in it.

It's really not hard using different words to refer to similar things America, come the fuck on.

I think you're confused. For one thing, we have no idea who made the graphic in the OP image. For another, in the US, jelly is a sweet spread made of juice, jam is that spread with chunks of the fruit in it, and preserves are fruit cooked down like you do with jelly but still being more or less recognizable, more or less like in your image. It's yuros who consistently get this wrong.

Dear bongs and aussies,
How does a pb&j compare to your vegemite/marmite sandwiches? Many people compare it (not in taste but in its ubiquity and purpose as a simple, cheap, and fast meal) and I'm curious how those who grew up with one feel about the other. I personally have never had either vegemite or marmite so I wouldn't be able to compare.

Marmite & veggimite are normally eaten on toast with butter. You do get people who put it in sandwiches but it's seen as being a bit odd. My mother likes marmite in cheese sandwiches though.

Not sure about veggimite, but a lot of people dislike marmite. To the extent that someone who is loved and loathed in equal measure is called a 'marmite man'.

The fact a lot of people dislike marmite is also part of their marketing. It is very deeply ingrained, and folk like me have eaten it almost every day since I was 3. But it doesn't have the inoffensive widespread appeal that PB&J has.

I'm more of a peanut butter and banana guy myself. But if you want the most american sandwich then might I suggest the often neglected hot dog sandwich? Picrel is a bit too elaborate for a genuine hotdog sammy. Really all you need to do if cook two hotdogs, slice them in half, line up the four slices (prefereably on white bread) and add a layer of ketchup. It's awesome.
