Malt vinegar is made from malted barley and dark in color. I would not use wine vinegar but I guess I haven't tried it. and yeah you just drizzle a little bit on, it doesn't take much. Apple vinegar may be ok but its a lot stronger in flavor. Maybe you could try and mix a tiny bit of basalmic into apple vinegar to get kind of close but I'd try to buy some if you can. Ive heard a lot of British stuff is artificial so make sure it's real first.
