What you did wrong is buy silicon pieces of shit unitaskers that don't even seem to work. You don't even need your eggs to be perfectly circular to begin with.

Lmao those look like the same ones I got at the dollar store years ago. They don't work, and every time you try to use them they perform worse until you just throw them out. 2 of the 4 I bought still had gaps for egg to escape even after weighing the tops down. You can get metal eggs rings for around the same price

The bottom of your pain is probably slightly uneven, whether by design or through age/use. Try applying a very thin coat of oil, lard, or shortening to the bottom of the mold, and only place it in the pan when it is at exact temperature.

mason jar lids are steel coated in zinc. If you were to heat those lids to around 900F the zinc will begin to vaporize and may cause zinc poisoning. If you heat your pan to 900F to cook eggs you deserve metal poisoning.

don't use mason jar lids because they have threads inside and a lip, both of which gives eggs little spaces to stick to.

buy a set of stainless steel pastry rings, oil them and heat them in a pan. in one set you'll get 3-5 rings of good size for eggs. if you want them all the exact same size buy a set of rings for each egg you plan to cool.

or just fucking figure it out.

I use them if I want to make breakfast sandwiches. It’s nice because it prevents the egg from ending up a super thin layer that extends like an inch away from the outer edge of your bread. Just make sure the pan is hot enough to immediately start cooking the yolk and you won’t get spillage like OP

>> No.16314782

16314782

the issue with frying an egg is that the whites don't cook through before the yolk starts overcooking.
so you have to steam it with a lid or baste the whites with butter

why would you want to make the whites not spread out and cook slower? Doesn't that compound the problem?

>> No.16314823

>>16314782
The issue is that you want it one way, but it be the other.

Just a tip for those running out buying mason jars. The lids are metal and will retain heat. Don’t pick them up bare handed after you’ve cooked your egg

Microwaves are useful for making scrambled egg. You can't use them to fry an egg though.

>> No.16316510

The whole point of English muffin style breakfast sandwiches was that they were made to be eaten with one hand without making a mess and often on the go. Thats why everything is uniform and about the size of the .uffin and the egg is overcook so it doesn't run. If you're at home making a sandwich to chill at breakfast do your eggs properly easy over or sunny up without those stupid rings
