Cats probably do that to tire out their prey so they can't fight back, or just because it's how they keep up their hunting skills. It's not to make the meat tender, that doesn't matter to them because they just swallow pieces of it whole and their strong stomach acid is what breaks it down. They can even break down pieces of bones, they don't need meat to be tenderized.

The reason sharks tend to keep swimming is that they lack the "swim bladder" that other fishes have, meaning they gradually sink to the bottom of the sea if they don't swim. In shallow places, that's no big deal and they'll go rest on the sea floor, but in deep areas they'd risk sinking into the abyss and perishing from the cold and pressure.

idk why they believe that when the opposite is true. If you can kill an animal with no stress (shoot it in the head and have it drop dead instantaneously and not have it see it coming) the muscle fibers won't tense up, resulting in a more tender piece of meat. It's actually a real challenge to slaughter an animal without stress and I'm not sure it can be done commercially.

Not him but I have a theory that most captive great whites are already close to death when caught. The vast majority of the population stays well away from human interaction in the middle of the ocean, so those that wander close enough to be captured are already displaying some strange behavior. Then when caught they might refuse to eat until they die. It reminds me of some pets that stop eating and slink off to weird quiet parts of the house to die from old age, like behind the couch or under the patio or whatever. Maybe it's wrong to relate vastly different animals like fish and mammals, but it makes sense to me this way
