This, buffets are really only a desirable when stoned as fuck and even then like 50% of the experience is the people watching. Buffet regulars are the best subset of Walmart shoppers and it's really engrossing to watch them eat and struggle to breathe. Chinese buffets are the best.

i used to love them. would stay in until i felt i got my money's worth. waiting for a long time and stuffing my face.
then i realised all i did was wasted time, ate mediocre food, loaded on carbs and stretched my stomach for the next while.
i wouldn't go to a buffet on my own or on a date, and even on occasions where i'd go, i'd be extremely picky, but they're pretty ok for a social gathering. a birthday or something else like that, and it's pretty ok. perfect food for kids, stuff for every picky fucker, plus very little waiting.
depends a lot on other customers though. when you have johnny bobbing for apples, jayna licking her cake fingers and arun airing lungs out, well, you can naturally get excited for all the imunisation coming your way.

Buffets are usually crap. All you can eat restaurants where you can get as much food as you want to order are usually great. There's an all you can eat sushi place near me (in Pisa, Italy of all places) that has good quality rolls, dumplings, noodles, rice, duck, you name it. $30 person, but it's worth it, especially since you can get as much salmon sashimi as you care for and there is literally no limit (except in the eel).

I went to my local Chinese buffet today, it was a pretty good experience.
