16189565 No.16189565 [Reply] [Original]

I'm eating like a bird lately. Like half a sandwich in a day, and maybe a handful of nuts in a day. I just struggled to microwave a can of chunky chicken noodle and slog through spooning it in me. Chicken or the egg, I've become very tired and small tasks start to seem insurmountable. I got all the ingredients out to make clam chowder, and barely got past dicing and cooking the bacon before looking at the vegetables and deciding that it just wasn't going to happen.

Any ideas when your appetite is nonexistant which in turn makes you too fatigued to make food? I swear that beer has become my main staple, which has infinitely made it worse. (by the way, a tin of sardines and a pint of dark porter is a great meal). No nutrition is making my mind ramble.

I swapped booze for weed and it worked well for a while in terms of increased appetite but it has it's own problem once you become hooked on it and smoke daily. Constant introspective thoughts were a bitch considering the answers I'd come up with through them were pretty damning.

Some good advice in this thread
You are most likely depressed
Better sleep, better food, and more exercise will each have a bigger impact on your mental state than a prescribed course of antidepressants
Commit to all three, this magnifies the effect
Get exercise every day, doesn't have to be high impact, walking a couple of miles, preferably in sunlight will make an impact
The exercise will help you sleep and help your appetite
Commit to eating healthy meals on a schedule whether you are hungry or not
Also try to sleep, or at least rest on a regular schedule (no electronic devices, quiet environment, low light, cool temp for 8 hours every night)

>I swear that beer has become my main staple
This. Is. The. Problem.
It is incredibly easy to fall into a liquid diet where your calories come mostly from beer
They call it liquid bread for a reason. They also show evidence that this will lead you to an early grave and make you functionally retarded. Your appetite and body can be easily ruined by drinking calories instead of eating them
Give up beer for twenty-four hours
Just one day
When you start to feel hungry, drink a glass of water. When you want a beer, drink a glass of water. When you feel like you're starving, drink a god-damned glass of water!
Only after all those stages have passed, and your stomach is screaming at you, should you relent and have a small meal of some of your favorite food. Make it takeout or fast food. If you don't have the energy to cook, that's fine, eating some meat or vegetables is the goal here.
Once you've eaten your meal, enjoy it. Relish the feeling of a satiated stomach
That feeling is the goal you need to aim for
You need to re-learn how to -eat- your calories rather than -drink- them. Take it day by day and hopefully you can course correct yourself back into a good diet

Stop being such a little bitch. Do you have a dick or a cunt? I've been depressed all my life, nothing makes me happy, I almost never smile and have to fake everything just to fit with others. And yet I force myself to eat and lift weights, along with boxing.

If you feel sorry for yourself and rot in your bed all day, you will only make everything worse. And if that's your goal here, then just buy a gun and fucking end it.

Your drinking isn't nutritious, taper back, because you're probably also in a perpetual state of dehydration. Make a pitcher of decaf iced tea, if you're not a water drinker, or a pallet of flavored seltzers, get it all very cold and ready to serve, and get your 8 glasses of water each day.
Take a multi-vitamin daily, and ideally something time released, or some kind of 3x a day gummies. The B time-released might increase your energy, or else you get an injection at your doctor.
While you are drained and utterly lazy, stock your freezer and pantry with low-effort meals.
You need prepared foods like tubs of potato salad, pasta salad, fruit salad, already cut up celery sticks, baby carrots, caesar salad kit, deli sliced roast beef or turkey, good rolls.
Your freezer can have breakfast burritos, nuke n eat sausage, bagels to simply toast. Canned biscuits to simply pop open and bake and nuke some chipped beef from like stouffers, pot pies, frozen dinners like eggplant you can nuke and drop into a sub roll. Instant flavored oatmeal.
Buy some superfood smoothies or yogurt drinks, some granola bars with nutrition like Luna, just to amp up your right things. Bananas are terrific.

In a couple weeks when feeling better (you could have covid ya know), you can make a couple nutritious things like a homemade soup stock, some roasts you can put in the crock pot or bake on low. Get out of your cycle of depression first.

People are saying depression, but depression can be a symptom of something more serious. I had celiac disease, and the symptoms were similar to what you described. Do you have painful bowel movements often? Go to doctor and describe any physical things that bother you. Maybe write a list of specific symptoms over a few weeks and/or start a food chart.

hello, it is me, 5HTP shill

i still dont eat enough, drink too much and am on a path to destruction, but i am happy, drink way less than i used to, feel healthier in general, and actually cook and eat meals for myself a few times a week and dont vomit them up in a weird panic induced fit an hour later. brought a little life back into me, and from there assessing and working on the shit i needed to was way fuckin easier.

the anons saying 'just go outside, get some excersize, stop drinking,' are half right too, but you can do all that shit and still feel utterly disintrested in living or making progress. best part is, you can still drink all day long, you'll just have slept better the night before and be more inclined to stay busy doing other shit instead because your head is clearer and you dont feel physically like your guts are gonna drop out of our ass and your bones are gonna turn into snakes etc

That's an odd observation, but I have noticed this. Cheap white flour seems to be a sure-thing trigger for an anxiety attack, then just feeling wiped out and low afterwards. I had two doctors shrug it off because of the housewife gluten-free craze, but I felt like absolute dogshit for like 14 hours after eating pic related. It's almost become a joke with my friends where I'll make a great batch of soup and get bakery fresh bread, then go HAM on the bread, and they go dude you know what happens after you eat all that bread. It's the kind of anxiety even chamomile tea and whiskey won't solve.

get your A1C checked. you may have pre-diabetes. if your pancreas is not releasing natural insulin correctly you can eat simple carbs (soda, sweets, refined white bread, processed pizza) you will get high blood sugar, feel thirsty, then when the insulin finally gets to your blood you will crash and have a panic attack or massive carb craving.

you can fix it if you learn what your body is doing, but this is very very similar to what was happening to me when i was skirting having the beetus.

Good practical advice itt but you should still get a checkup with your Dr incase it's something physiological.

Things to check:
Liver function
Thyroid function
Fasted blood glucose
White blood cell count

Having a nuked liver or thyroid will completely kill your appetite. I had both after getting covid. Taking T3 (thyroid hormone) to kick-start my system fixed my fatty liver and my thyroid function. You also need to check WBC incase it's an infection and FBG incase it's the beetus. Given your history of drinking my guess would be liver.

Word of caution, most Doctors are poorly trained to recognise the signs of hypothyroidism and only prescribe treatment for the most severe cases, plus they are told to prescribe T4 which will improve your bloodwork while still making you feel like shit. If you are hypothyroid push for T3 therapy.

As other anons have said you could just be depressed. Make sure to have easy to prepare food, your favourite food on hand at all times. No. 1 is getting enough calories you can worry about what you're eating after hitting that goal.
