Carolinas have the best bbq imho.

I visited Bloomington very briefly and had a good dinner on that Whatever Street, I think it was a Chinese-or-Mongolian kitchen built into a mansion or whatever. I really enjoyed my time there. I'm told there's also a lot of beautiful natural-areas nearby, Southern Indiana where the cornfields just start to meet the Appalachians, not as bleak as the Northern plain.
I bought a bunch of blush-wine to a house-show with my host and the friends she'd met after transferring from community college. Successfully flirted my way into four or five rounds of leave-it-in raw dawg with her 19 year old friend, between my car that night and her dorm the next morning. MN girl, me from Chicago. Had the same name as my then-girlfriend too. She couldn't get enough of it. Fond memories of Bloomington!

No use arguing the best, but the worst region in the US culinarily is easily the mountain west. People shit on the midwest but at least they have a culinary identity. MT, WY, ID, UT, CO really don't have much going for them aside from a few high-falutin restaurants in the major cities that serve food that isn't distinct to the region in any way. I'm from the mountain west btw. Most peoples' idea of good food around here is generic burgers/sandwiches and fried shit. Don't even have the benefit of seafood or spic food or wop food. It's a post-applebees food desert full of dipshits who pretend that ultra lean game meat is the best thing they've ever tasted because it's the only thing they've ever eaten that didn't come from walmart or a sysco supplied slop house.

>> No.16175455

That's the stupidest tautology I've ever heard. That's like saying Antarctica has bad food because it doesn't have its own food heritage.

We have a good selection of meats, the best barbeque, tex mex, decent gulf shrimp, as well as southern dishes like fried chicken and mac & cheese.
We have a shit ton of cities that are loaded with any cuisine imaginable, you forget that we have like 3 of the most populous cities in the US.

Florida has a decent selection of everything, especially Cuban food.
Tennessee has great southern options but is kinda lacking in the Mexican department.
New Mexico has chili and chili accessories, but not much else

Chicago has some good food. I enjoyed Lou Malnati's and their deep dish and also their hot dogs. I don't feel safe walking around that city though.

I didn't mention NOLA. They have great food too.

Toronto was awful and expensive. Fuck Canada and their socialist bullshit.

When I was in Europe--Finland was awful. Just bland fish and shit vodka. Hottest women of anywhere I've ever been though.
