It does seem like it's seen as an "old-timey" flavor. Personally it's my favorite of the basic ice cream flavors that aren't some triple chocolate caramel swirl cookie dough type thing.

in Australia, lime flavoured milkshakes used to be EVERYWHERE. Then places stopped stocking lime flavour one day.
Flavoured milks used to always have lime as one of the 3 standard flavours too (coffee, banana, lime, maybe strawberry if you were a fag) but again, one day places just stopped stocking lime flavoured milk.

Now you pretty much have to make it yourself with lime syrup from the baking aisle.
Other than that, it sometimes makes a come-back as a "limited edition" flavour.

Just sucks seeing a national icon like that disappear for no reason other than "fucking chinks/towelheads prefer chocolate" or something dumb.
