Do American really cut up their steak before making a sandwich? Why? Are their teeth week or something?

I hate americans too but this is autistic. Firstly you picture is disgusting. The meat is sliding around over a soggy salad with sauce everywhere and bread that's rigid and crumbly after being toasted for too long. Please learn to cook or at least learn to make it look presentable.

Secondly why would you want your steak to be tougher and chewier. Biting chunk out of a slab of steak seems both uncomfortable and replaces your desire to taste food with the requirment to chew threw it. Slicing the meat against the grain would not only make the meat a whole bunch more tender but it would also make you sandwhich more sturdy and ergonimic. Like a fine building has foundation deep in the ground, the sliced steak would hold the roof of the sandwhich together, delocalising the impact of a bite. No more sliding meat. I could probably go on but you get the idea.
