Disagree (for me). It requires you to buy into his brain washing that nicotine doesn't do anything for you and never has. I personally got a quality buzz from the first cigarette of the day, and all cigarettes early when I was smoking.
He tries to do the same thing with drinking. That seems even more wrong. If you can trick yourself into believing his BS it works pretty well. I couldn't.
For me I chose mindfulness and it worked wonders.

From the last I've heard the vapes cause popcorn lung. The flavouring is diacetl which is what causes the scars on your lungs. It was used in the liquids and stuff, but got banned. In the UK it's banned but I don't know about USA and such, I would imagine they did the same but you never know. The biggest problem with vapes is with it's flavours and nicotine content. Sometimes you don't know how much nicotine you're really ingesting, which causes addiction and your brain to rewire to want nicotine. Flavours like mango or super sherbet watermelon blue blast and shit spund attractive to people because it smells nice, instead of the regular dirty smoker smell. This in turn appeals to kids, because it tastes like sweets and stuff. Things like nicotine can do more harm for kids in the longrun because their brains are still developing compared to an adult. It's supposed to be a replacement to help you quit, like the nicotine patches. Another thing is the social aspect. Smokers will know what I mean, you make friends over having a ciggie or whatever. Because it's not cigarettes it becomes popular with the hip faggy crowd, making it more widespread and giving it one of those attractive looks. Yes there isn't much information about the long term effects, but people need to realise it's going to be similar to regular smoking

>> No.16013649

>>16013618
Forgot to this add on. With cigarettes you know there's a high chance of getting lung diseases and cancer, but with vapes it could be worse. It could be more aggresive cancer, maybe non fatal lung diseases that just fuck your breathing capacity for life etc.
>>16013209
I like smoking, I like the feeling the nicotine gives me. Granted I can go through a 20 pack in 2 to 3 weeks but I still like doing it. It's sort of similar with how some people only smoke while drinking, they might like the taste or the social aspect, or both

Nicotine salts have a stronger hit to it, closer to normal ciggies than liquid is. It's also easier on the throat which makes more pleasant to inhale, which is a big factor in addiction. I don't know why the government didn't go after them but I assume you're american so you would know more about that than me

>> No.16014513

>>16014480
Juul also uses the same 5mg nic salt that you can buy juice bottles of today, but the govt was really fixated on the fact that Juul supposedly marketed to kids. I personally don't think they did directly, and that kids found appeal in the Juul product because of being able to vape in their rooms without their parents finding out. There was no smell, and if their parents found it on their desk they'd just say it was a flash drive and move on. The flavors were an added bonus.

Also the wiki said mango was most popular flavour. Also as you said doean't help with how it looks being all sleek like and disguised. I still think it's all bollocks because then at some point people would want a ciggie off a friend if their vape pen has run out

>I think the popcorn lung thing was a stretch
It could be yeah or just overreacting but it was noticed because some workers in a popcorn factory got it from working with the chemical, it's the reason for the name. Yeah it could have been powder which would be worse than vapour

My grandad is 94 and has been a heavy smoker since his 20s. He's got no lung serious lung problems and has no trouble breathing, so some people can smoke heavily without dying. He died though, the bannister he was holding onto broke and he fell down the stairs and hit his head hard

Nobody has been vaping for that long, it hasn't even been around for 20 years yet. 95% of people who vape just started in the past 5-10 years. That's not even long enough to get any noticable effects on the health from smoking cigarettes, so why would you assume vaping is clearly better if we haven't even seen what happens to these people after 40-50 years? Anecdotally speaking, I smoked for over a decade and never had anything wrong with me, not even a cough. But for a short period I switched to juuls and it gave me a horrible cough and shortness of breath. Vape made my lungs feel wet. And it was also way more addictive and easy to take in an obscene amount of nicotine. I had to wake up in the middle of the night to suck on that thing. Man, I'm glad I quit nicotine now.

>> No.16018771

>>16013618
Popcorn lung is a specific problem with specific flavourings, only butter-based flavours (it came from cinema workers using artifical butter flavourings in popcorn). Fruit-only is reasonably safe, as is using menthol flavours. Just stay away from butter/cream/cake flavours and you're fine.

>>16018597
Firstly, your cough was probably due to the psychotic nic levels in Juul pods, and the fact that smoking cigs burns the little hair-like-things in the back of your throat that stop irritants. Literally EVERYONE will get a bit of a cough at first when they switch to vaping if they were already smoking - your body got used to one set of chemicals, and you're breathing in another. That, plus high nic levels (i.e very harsh on your throat) and the high PG level in Juul pods (also harsh, but carries flavour better) means you're in for a bad time, at least temporarily.

The problem with Juul is that it was just peddling psycho high nicotine levels in a tiny, reasonably cheap, and tasty package. The kids got into it because of these factors, except it's insane shit like 50+mg nic, vs say the 3mg I use. Combine that with shop staff who fully believe ''it's better for you!'' and wanting to make profit vs turning customers down, you have a hellscape.

The (((science))) is that it's 95% safer than smoking. If you source your shit from reputable companies (UK best imho, Malaysia is good for liquids too), and don't abuse it, it's a good smoking cessation aid.

If you want to know the science, the UK has done a decent amount of research into this and they're desperately trying to prove it's terrible so them saying ''uh its not THAT bad actually'' is more credible imo.

I imagine the fruit flavours only have things like citric acid or whatever the equivalent is, I'm not sure. Menthol should only be that mint chemical, but again my knowledge is spotty. You're right with the nicotine levels, because it isn't a ciggie it can be harder to gauge how much you're having in one go. This is especially bad with children because they wont have alot of experience smoking.
>>16019755
When I changed jobs I didn't have much time to myself in between kids and work, not much time to play a bit of vidya or whatever so I ended up smoking more. Helped me mellow out and it was quicker.
