Regardless of diet, there is one substance literally everyone will tell you to stay away from; sugar. I seriously hope you don't consume sugar in any form. This includes things like honey and fruits. Get a grip. Stop consuming a substance that your body treats as alcohol without the intoxication as it doesn't pass the blood-brain barrier.

You shouldn't let overconsumption of refined sugar make you think natural sources of it are bad. I've never seen a single credible source proving that fruit is unhealthy, even though people are always trying to claim it is. But there's plenty of evidence that it offers a lot of benefits.

Even some modern hunter-gatherers eat 50g of sugar or more from honey every day without showing any obvious signs that it's unhealthy. So I don't know if it's just refined sugar that's bad, or maybe it's when combined with a lack of exercise and most diets having too much low nutrition processed foods in general. There were some studies showing that vegan diets are healthier for obese people who already had problems with their hearts and arteries, maybe there's something similar going on with sugar being worse for people who are obese.

and your liver converts fructose to glucose for absorption... If there's no source of carbohydrates, your body will start to convert fat and fatty acids to glucose. It's almost like your body needs it or something.

If you're a fat fuck and consistently consume at or above the level needed to keep you going, sugar is bad. If you routinely don't eat enough, carbs and sugar are basically necessary to keep your body from stripmining itself to keep the blood-glucose levels above 3mmol/L. Need help with the concept of low and high blood sugar? Ask a diabetic. They'll tell you at what point the world begins to feel fuzzy, where their doctor has warned them (or waking up in the hospital has reminded them) that ketoacidosis, organ damage, gangrene and coma are likely possibilities.

>> No.15964037

>>15961186
let's clarify some of this

Fructose sugar cannot be processed in bodily cells like glucose, cannot be stored for energy later and must be broken down and converted into fat for body energy by the liver and the liver alone.

This means an increased fructose sugar (HFCS anyone?) means increased functional load on your liver, which is required for 500 more tasks the body needs to keep going.

Fructose sugar is as dangerous in high quantities or moderate consistent use as alcohol used in this way is to the liver and body.

Depending on your lifestyle (toxic particles in environment, sedentary) and your diet, your liver will already be working hard to keep you living so excess fructose can overwork it and cause problems.

Unless you're losing fat beyond healthy levels. There is a point where you do need to intake glucose, or things that can become glucose. If you're a bad drunk, or a skelly wellington, fruit and pasta may be an absolutely necessary part of your diet. If you're not the goodyear blimp, a spoonful of sugar in your morning coffee isn't any worse for you than the coffee itself.

Everything in moderation. Chronic excess of systemic glucose will eventually kill you, and a near-complete lack of it will kill you just as dead.

Plus, (if you're a ketofag), prolonged Ketosis isn't super great for your kidneys or mental state. If you're killing yourself with food, it's the safer bet. If you're just trying to lose a few pounds, just eat less and work out more; it will take a bit longer (depending on how long per day/session you drive your body on empty), but you'll probably feel better getting there.

You need to eat 80 grams or more of fructose daily for it to be dangerous. There is roughly 5 grams of fructose per 100 grams of banana which means you would need to eat 1.6 kg of daily banana to reach 80 g of fructose. No one is fucking eating that much fruit.

Pretty much. I work a physically demanding job, so I burn a lot of calories plus exercise after work.

It just makes sense to not eat carbs when you are resting, but eat them when you are active. Carbs are fuel, fats and proteins are maintenance, that's how I see it.
I of course have maybe a beer or maybe a snack once or twice a week after dinner but that won't change anything really.

I never said anywhere in my post that you should avoid fruit. Whole fruit is fine. God put an equal ratio of fibre to sugar inside of foods. That's why the foods we get refined sugar from need so much processing. Sugar beets, cane sugar, maple trees. All of them have an intense fibre to sugar ratio. When you eat a beet or an apple in its whole form the fibre slows the fructose absorption to levels that aren't exacerbatory on the liver.

To summarize:
Processed sugar freed from it's natural fibre ratios, specifically fructose not glucose, is hard on the liver in large quantities and is processed by the liver in the exact same way as the liver processes alcohol.
