I’m curious what you find “outrageous” in terms of pricing.
If it helps, the diner is in an area which was a historical shithole, but is now trustfund-hipster gentrified as fuck. Because of the insane construction boom, last year the mayor increased property tax by fucking 34%.
But I’d mostly chalk any pricing inconsistencies up to the fact it’s a super tiny place run by an elderly black couple; the husband does all the cooking, the wife does all the serving, and they might have an extra server during busy rushes.
I highly doubt they sit down with a spreadsheet regularly and calculate margins and cost analysis; they probably just tack on a dollar to something if/when they think it needs to be done so they can stay open and make a living.

Here's a place closer to where I live now that has a remarkably similar menu (note the Bounty/Ranch Basket combos). There's also a local chain called Herfy's that has more or less the same menu. If you're in Washington State and see some burger place with a weird name it'll probably be one of these places.

Cherish these places if you have them near you, anons. I had a solid rotation of joints like these that were in areas that people deemed too scummy to go or were just a bit off the beaten path. But now with the invasion of literal faggots from the nearby liberal city and elsewhere across the country, the construction boom and price/property tax increases have mostly killed them off or forced them to raise their prices and go for lower quality, cheaper items to stay in business but they are dying slow deaths.
