why the fuck is he using it to flip a steak??

>> No.15875163

That actually looks like a great implement for flipping meat. Let's be honest, the spatula just isn't that good. It can only tip the meat halfway before it falls down with a great splash. Using a fork is better because it has more control, but it mars the meat with porous holes. Those big cooking chopsticks used by Asians are the best but I'm not good enough to use those, so this looks like a great alternative.

Tongs.

What the fuck? Why do these exist when we have tongs?

Tweezers and tongs have different uses. Tweezers are great for spaghetti or long-shaped pasta, for example.

Tongs or chopsticks
I don't see the point of "tweezers" for cooking.

Using chopsticks to cook if you're not Asian is kinda cringe.

What's the advantage of chopsticks over tweezers/tongs as eating utensils?

>tongs vs tweezers
What's the difference?

>> No.15876365

>>15876283
Clearly “real men” have to use tongs because, even though they’re identical in form and function to tweezers, tweezers are seen as feminine so “real “””””men”””””” try to dismiss them to appear more manly.

That's not true at all. Tweezers are meant for delicate plating and smaller items. The difference is size and width of the paddles, or whatever you want to call them.

Having giant tweezers is just fucking stupid because you could have tongs that are better suited to handle larger items and you don't need precision and accuracy to fucking flip a steak in a pan.

I don't have edible flowers and micro greens and precious ingredients that need to be placed just so on my plate that I'm charging $100 a course for. If I ever do have these ingredients, I just plate with my hands cuz I'm not in a pro kitchen and I don't take Instagram photos of what I make.

It's not that tweezers aren't useful, they just probably have very little utility in a home kitchen, or really anywhere that isn't a high fine dining establishment. And tongs are far better suited to serve salad, handle items on a grill, stirring/mixing and other tasks you would normally do at home.

They can be useful to move small things, not a fucking steak.

Yes. I recently bought a pair and it improved my life so much I hate myself for not trying them earlier

Those are medical grade/laboratory tweezers. Possibly someone poaching some veggies for canning could have a need to pluck items out of the water. The multiple pairs of forceps and tweezers that I own? They are used to keep my bathroom drains free of hair or any clogging materials.
