I always thought cooking was manly. I'm not sure what changed or if it's just millennials taking over but the terrible state of cooking shows is reaching critical mass.

Discuss gripes with cooking show techniques, presentation, host schticks, etc.

Post antidotes if you've got them.

Coming shows have always been awful. Even the patron saint of cooking television, Alton Brown, was motivated to make his own show specifically because other shows were terrible... And he didn't even have any background in cooking prior.
Man went to culinary school expressly as research four the show, he was so mad.

Eh, that's excusable if they mention it and how they corrected it. I don't think anyone wants to spend much time watching someone botch up a dish...

I think I just realized that a bunch of co/ck/s watch cooking videos almost solely for entertainment/discussion with absolutely no intent to use what the video presents. Which is precisely why they are so nitpicky about the presentation.

Not even politics, it's more of an aesthetic/tonal label based on stereotypes. In the 80s/90s could probably replace it with "yuppie" and the label would carry the approximate meaning.
It's basically people anyone who lacks a based/stand-out character about them, is perceived as being holier-than-thou, has an effeminate attitude, and boringly sticks to most expectations/reservations of normies (especially if they do relatively well from it).

Watch Bourdain and then watch Rick Stein. Bourdain acts like everything is a novelty and he's putting savages on display solely as a novelty. He doesn't believe anyone would want to actually eat this shit. Stein loves seeing new food, he actually sees and shows how and why things are done how they're done. He's genuinely interested in the culture and history behind food while I always felt Bourdain was laughing at these people behind their back when he got home.

Facebook Soccer Moms have started the conspiracy theory that teflon pans cause cancer, impotence, autism, gayness and everything else they don't like.

There is a kernel of truth in that the coating is made of a type of plastic and should not be heated above a certain temperature, but it's fine for things like eggs. Just don't use it for searing any meat, for deep frying or things like that and you'll be fine.

The place is called wuhstuhshuh, which is slightly odd to pronounce because it doesn't resemble modern word patterns. Worse, that makes the sauce wuhstuhshuhsauce, which is just kind of a tongue twister, so most people just truncate it to wuhstuh sauce.
