There are many reasons why you don't "just drink everclear". You'll understand when you're older. I would recommend experimenting with bottom shelf vodkas; don't start with handles, as most taste like gut rot and rubbing alcohol. But it's not difficult to find some hidden gems. It all depends on local availability. 40's tend to be ubiquitous and easily drinkable. That being said, they tend to be the most "inefficient" within the efficient ways to get drunk tier of booze.

Box wine/bottom shelf handles tend to be 1a/1b - don't sleep on the box wine. For example, near me in the US, cheapest handle of ~40% liquor is ~$12 for nail polish tier vodka. Occasionally I've seen extra strength gin at a similar price range but it tastes like death. Box of wine is ~$12/5L/13%. They're nearly equivalent, and at that point, you're saving pennies by picking the liquor. However, the wine is way more easily drinkable IMO.

But I'm not a poor fag so I generally opt for WT101 or Evan Williams.

Distill it yourself. The initial cost of the boiler and condenser are about 700 bucks in Australia. Then you can make neutral spirit that's much much better than any commercial vodka for about 8 dollars a litre using sugar and turbo yeast. Methanol is not a concern if you ditch the first 60mls of distillate. Being taxed for alcohol is for chumps.

Why not hard liquor? It's faster and easier. What's wo hard about taking a shot from the bottle every five minutes with some water or drink of choice until drunk? If the drink is going to be gross either way, just go with cheap hard liquor. You'll only need ten drinks instead of 100
